ORIGINAL: IronBear ... Alteringbreathingpatterns and music ate one good technique. It was done by I can't remember who at the Esseline Institute in the 80's though... meditation can do this too and just being with the right person who helps you relax is a more common way. The point is there is a difference between using light trance to using full blown hypnosis.... Light trance work is used oftenenough by people without any form of special or professional training but who have the ability to gain levels of trust easily and both a good tonal voice and an ability to talk in a descriptive manner. Top sales people often have this trait too.... Hey IronBear.... and all.... >>It was done by I can't remember who at the Esseline Institute in the 80's though Most famously at Esalen by Stanislov Grof, (though many others taught "breathwork" there...) who "discovered" that rythmic hyperventilation was as mind-altering as the LSD he was no longer allowed to research. Of course, the Taoists back in 2kBC knew a thing or two.... ..... but they didn't have the PR power of Esalen For the kinky crowd, arythmic, simultanious, mass hyperventaliation (coupled with music and motion) was one of Bagwan Rajneesh's best techniques, .... built a damn fine cult around "dynamic meditation" as he named it. Nobody ever got out of a "dynamic meditation" session without getting fucked-up, fucked-over, and usually well-fucked to boot. I highly reccomend it. I haven't looked in a while, but I betcha you could google up some scrumptious vids of what old Baggie had the hippie kids like me doing back in the day........ I wonder if the Rajneeshies know about youtube.com? >>Top sales people often have this trait too.... Funny you should mention that. This ex-Ericksonian hypnotherapist is just today writing the inbound-call scripts for our big new health-insurance promotion when a cute little collar-bot dinged into my inbox, ...luring me to waste my time telling lame jokes here... DD, and yes, my script does have margin notes for when her (their) voice(s) should finish a sentence with a low, slow... downward intonation........ http://home.att.net/~meditation/Osho.html (scroll way down for a cartoonish superficial view of DM) Oh.... cool! I just knew there'd be vids... but.... it's just not the same as it was back in the 70's with a room just full of bouncy, buxom, bra-free spiritual seekers... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4506616324224559004&q=%22dynamic+meditation%22 Hooo hooooo hooooooo hoooooooo (damn... can't get the feeling back.... ... but you need to watch the vid to get that lame joke....) and, the damned demo-chic is wearing a bra, and she's the only one in the room which wrecks the whole "vibe" ... ya know. Edited because I couldn't stand it and went and googled up some info....
