I can understand why liberals harp on this. Liberalism is a mental disorder. [8D]

On the contrary, the religious obsession as expressed by those on the Far Right is a mental disorder.

What bullshit!!!

from your link -

Scrupulosity is a form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. (OCD) OCD appears to be a biologically based disorder with severe psychological consequences.

Appears to be? WTF?!?! You mean science does not know?

Appears to be ...
It could be that ...
We think that it is ...

There's your liberal disease. Prostrate at the alter of the psudo-science 'appears to be' worldview.

It's about time that liberalism, as practiced at the alter of 'appears to be', be held accountable. And here's why. Because science fetishists believe that only science can tell us what is. Therefore it is realistic to hold such to account when pronouncements are made under the guise of 'appears to be', or 'it could be that', or we think that it is'. Most often they are wrong as demonstrated by their constant 'self-correcting'.

Is it any wonder that a few Italian scientists were held accountable in court for making pronouncements on the unknowable (earthquakes cannot be predicted) where people were directly affected, as in died?

Moonhead -> RE: Romney presidency wrong for 40 million Americans (10/24/2012 9:32:31 AM)

So all scientists are liberals, then?
I wonder if anybody told Mengele or Heim that...

Lucylastic -> RE: Romney presidency wrong for 40 million Americans (10/24/2012 9:34:25 AM)

LOL Liberalism is not in any version of the DSM or likely to be
Liberalism has a well known *reality" bias, and doesnt make it anything close to a disease...
saying it is and does, shows signs of wilful ignorance.
so where are YOUR sources to back up your claim???
The DSM source please

Absolutely not. But most science fetishists are. We don't see liberals complaining about the religious left, now do we? It's always about the religious right, and it's damn hard to be religious and a science fetishist.

Lucylastic says Liberalism has a well known *reality" bias, and doesnt make it anything close to a disease...

Dayam! A reality bias based on constantly revising 'appears to be'. That's like believing sand makes for a solid foundation.

edit: so where are YOUR sources to back up your claim???

Sources? Like in stating 'appears to be'...?

Lucylastic -> RE: Romney presidency wrong for 40 million Americans (10/24/2012 9:50:34 AM)

As I said, where in the DSM say liberalism is a mental disease???
it doesnt.
simple.
Projecting your ignorance is all you have.
the only people saying it are people like you. Which basically means more than you would like to admit

Got a cite that most science fetishists are liberals, then? I can think of a lot who lean so far to the right they need a special orthapedic chair to sit in while they write their science fiction.

As for the religious right, they're the ones who keep trying to ban the teaching of science, so it shouldn't be a surprise that the liberal science groupie massive have more of an issue with them than they do with the religious left...

Myself, I believe government should play a role in helping the mentally ill. Alot of those folks families dont have the finances, education, or resources, or knowledge of resources to deal. ANd many times its like WHAT RESOURCES? WHat successful resource?

I have a nephew who has suffered for years from a very early age of mental illness. It took years to diagnose him, and unless you have dealt with this kind of situation, you have no idea what kind of crisis this creates for families. Families who have the money or even the knowledge. Excellent programs are needed for these people. It is a devastating crisis, that effects everyone. Society, families, the individual. SOmetimes a very dangerous problem.

I dont know if its coincidence or not, but my nephew is almost 30 now, and only in this 4 years as Obama as president, have these programs improved with better diagnosing, and placements, and treatments.

As far as Im concerned, it is governments place to GOVERN these programs without successful programs, it is a matter of safety. Mental health is nothing to play with, it can cause devastating problems in society, as the news has educated us. This is a problem that cant be ignorred, and Obama gets my vote.
Unless one is directly affected, most times people dont care. Let it go ignorred, it will affect people in the long run even if they have ZERO mental illness in their families. I am talking about the worst case scenerios and they do happen.

DaddysDungeon -> RE: Romney presidency wrong for 40 million Americans (10/24/2012 11:34:36 AM)

Is there any proof that those 40 million people care about him?

mnottertail -> RE: Romney presidency wrong for 40 million Americans (10/24/2012 11:42:16 AM)

Actually its something like 47% of americans dont give a fiddlers fuck about him according to his own testimony, I personally think it is a much higher percentage than that.

Tsk, tsk. When something gets fired back atcha, you can't take it.

I referred to this because I recalled reading from some of my parent's old medical texts from 50 years ago (My mom worked her way up and was Director of Nursing over a psych unit for a bit over a decade back in the 70's and 80's) Would you like to know what everyone was instructed to watch out for as it was a fairly reliable indicator that someone was about to go totally around the bend?
If you guessed obsession with religion, you win a SEEGARRRRRR.

Now, I've shown reputable information that religious obsessions are at times linked to psychiatric episides.

Can you show that Liberalism is a mental disorder?

Can you show that Liberalism is a mental disorder?

WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.

“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”

Board-certified in general and forensic psychiatry

No, in other words he can't.  He can point you to a joe the plumber scenario to a fucking shyster mind mechanic that has a ignominiously ignorant opinion.  But that is all.

It ain't proof.   Its cretinous asswipe.

Keep whining, he has been proven not only incorrect, but an example of a small whining mind.  The rightwing form never changes.   They don't have the facts, they don't have the truth of the matter, but they are experts on the lies and asswiping rhetorics.

And I hope you get busted for that, but I ain't gonna report you.

So, a board certified psychiatrist who thinks liberalism is a disorder is Weal and Twue but those who think that Scrupulosity is a mental disorder aren't? [:D]

As for whiniing about imaginary victims, I see more of that when I watch FOX than about anyplace else. I guess they're liberals.

You can about guess who started it.

Yours is a crock of shit.

Most of its claims are not so subtle reversals of the conclusions reached by four distinguished scholars that were funded by the US Government in a study to discover the roots of conservatism.

Liberal minded government funding research that bolsters its liberal bent. How nice[8|]

Keep it up. You're making my case in spades.[:D]
