CM just removed a number of photos I had on my profile. Some of these I copied from other profiles here on CM. Did you remove them from that profile too. Others were quotes that included the name of the person who made the statement originally. Including the person's name that made the original statement makes it legal to print their words.

It would appear that some thin skinned liberal doesn't like the truth, and CM is their messenger.

This post is in the wrong forum, first off but your assessment vis-a-vis political leanings is correct. Come on down to Politics and Religion, if you want a real culture shock.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

It would appear that you don't know the difference between CM and Collarchat.

RemoteUser -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 5:39:11 PM)

If you copy someone else's photos to your own profile, it would follow that you have taken their pictures, and that is why you had them removed. The site admins can see when something was uploaded, in case of copyright questions. (At least, they used to be able to, and I presume they still can.)

VideoAdminTheta -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 5:39:20 PM)

I can assure you that there aren't any thin skinned moderators around here and whether or not they are liberal or anyone else for that matter, I am sure that had nothing to do with pictures being removed from a profile. I would recommend writing to Support if you have any issue with something that they have done. There isn't much we can do for you on this side of the site.

frazzle -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 5:48:43 PM)

Isnt the point that the pictures used were stolen!!!

Did the op have permission to use them??? Hell chances are the original user didnt have permission to use them.

Kana -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 5:58:41 PM)

I think it's funny. I had a photo yanked today, an icon Poise made me from something that was in the public domain and had been on my profile for years. Meanwhile, the site is literally deluged with blatantly stolen pics of pornstars and teen hotties that can easily be found on tineye (and frequently are by forum members- I know of one recent frequent forum poster whose pic is of an author that ain't him, he's admitted so, but he, and it, are still here, up and running) but heaven help you if someone steals your pics-you have to move heaven and earth to prove they are yours.

Not bitching per-see, just making an observation.

As an off-topic side note... I love that Theta used this! [:D]

I just spoke with VideoAdminAlpha and she wanted me to post and ask that you write to her if you have had a problem in this area. She will try to get things resolved in the next day or so.

Thank you

Good.

Thanks Mods, keep up the good work.

notAkitten -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 6:52:25 PM)

Here's another observation, home made memes aren't allowed but Primary photos of mens junk is. I have reported one particular primary photo with his junk up front and center at least a dozen times and no one feels it necessary to remove it, but, homemade memes aren't allowed? Really? There's a BIG double standard going here.

lizi -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 6:58:55 PM)

I love it when people give paranoid reasons of their own making. Thin skinned liberals? Wtf.

OP, it could be that your pictures and quotes were reported, while the originals were not. Profile reports are automated and that fact is stated on this site. Do you really think on a (free) site of this size that people go around looking for violations, or to make things even?

Yup, it has to be that they're thin skinned liberals, it couldn't possibly be that it was because they were stolen from other profiles.

Reports are automated. There is a certain number of times it has to be reported, I don't know what that number is. It's not going to help for you to keep reporting it from the same computer/profile/IP address, if it worked that way then disgruntled users could wreak havoc on anyone because they got rejected or whatever and wanted to get some revenge.

Yes, explicit primary pictures are not allowed, however it has to be reported enough times to be removed. It's not a double standard, it's logic. People obviously reported your meme enough to have it removed, or it qualified as a picture that you didn't have a copyright too and was removed for that. But go on thinking it's a conspiracy if it makes you happy.

It's a tragedy, to be sure. Perhaps you can get the ACLU to take your case.

VideoAdminTheta -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 7:23:20 PM)

If I might interject something here: A lot of people don't know how the various systems work around here and this is their first experience with this particular aspect of how this works. I might feel just as they feel if I didn't know. We've had three threads on this topic and one had to be removed because we had so many of them and I directed the OP to the other threads. I didn't expect the OP to be beat up. This really is a misunderstanding and an issue that VideoAdminAlpha is working on. Let's give it a little time to be resovled.

Thanks everyone!

LookieNoNookie -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 8:13:20 PM)

I had all my photos removed. Got an email from every Mod and the owners of the site:

"No one could possibly be THAT good looking, so we presumed these were fakes"

(It's a cross I've learned to bare).

LadyPact -> RE: CM censorship (10/20/2012 9:22:23 PM)

For what it's worth, I don't think anybody should be allowed to post any pic that isn't of them, one they have taken themselves, or one that they own the rights to. In My opinion, if you get busted on a thread from one of the members here finding that your "pic" belongs to somebody else through tin eye or another search function, that should be enough to take it down. I honestly don't understand why people can't have the decency not to rip off somebody's photo just because they decided they liked it from somewhere else. Using such a pic to represent yourself is a lack of integrity. Nothing more.

Out of curiosity, do you think the same about avatars?

You broke the TOU of the website by stealing pics without permission, and when they were removed, blame a vast liberal conspiracy. What happened to the conservatives who preached and practiced individual responsibility? When did conservatives evolve into crybabies blaming everything in the world on liberals?
