Based on these quotes from the article, ... Kind of think the "secret base" was already compromised.

Three other Americans died in the attacks on U.S.-occupied buildings, including two who were hit in a mortar blast at the secret compound.

Both compounds were attacked by militants believed to be tied to al Qaeda. After the diplomatic complex was overrun, U.S. and Libyan personnel rushed by car to the second site, where they fought off two more waves of assaults, officials said.
Charlene Lamb, a top official in the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security, told lawmakers that the secret compound took "as many as three direct hits."

Oh, and there is this... again, from the article sited,

The State Department displayed a satellite photograph showing two locations - the rented villa that served as a special diplomatic mission and the compound that officials had cryptically described as an "annex" or "safe house" for diplomatic personnel.

Oversight committee spokesman Frederick Hill said committee Democrats made matters worse by asking questions about the satellite photos. "Even after Republicans objected, Democrats continued to ask questions that led State officials to put even more sensitive information about who worked there into the public realm," Hill said.

But even this tidbit is a little late...the militants have ALREADY attacked the place.Per the same article,"Both compounds were attacked by militants believed to be tied to al Qaeda. After the diplomatic complex was overrun, U.S. and Libyan personnel rushed by car to the second site, where they fought off two more waves of assaults, officials said." I'm not a rocket scientist,but to me if a "secret base" as already been attacked by 2 waves of militants it's cover is kinda blown already.Better luck next time OP.

The dems didn`t suspend an extended recess to rush back to Washington to exploit this attack .

The dems didn`t make it a public hearing...anything they did could have/should have been done at a closed door hearing.

And the dems didn`t googlemap the location of our secret CIA.......... for every terrorist in the world to see.

Our CIA base, where a dozen of our agents and 60 Libyan militiamen came from to respond to the attack, the base the idiot republicans showed on the googlemap............ is now useless as our secret CIA compound.

Every terrorist knows about it now.

The only thing the dems said at the hearing were comments like"I don`t think you should show that" and the like.

Any Libyan who worked the that secret site, including the Libyans we were training,our friends,now have an al-queda target on their backs .

Contractors,laborers,any service person or employee.......now has to wonder if they will be targeted.This isn`t a stupid ball game....

Misery Accomplished....republicans

And the "requests for extra security", the cons are hanging on to?

The records show the request was for 3 to 5 more men.Check Factcheck.

There were hundreds of armed terrorist there shooting RPGs and mortar rounds and AK47s.

There`s no way a few more men could have affected that level of attack.

Since the map was presented by a State Department official,it's a safe bet the Secretary of State knew what was being presented.The State Department official brought and displayed the map.Who knows Charlene Lamb's political leanings but me and most of the rest of the world can figure out the leanings of the Secretary of State,and she isn't a Republican!

This thread is about what the republicans did in response to the attack.

Which was to foolishly show military/intelligence secrets.

There is no excuse for that.You can`t excuse a breach like this by pointing fingers at the WH.

They ruined an ongoing CIA operation and base of operation and set us back years in our capability there.

The ones who did this should lose their security clearances.

OP,you can try spinning this all you want,but the info in your own link shows you aren't being honest here.The Republican committee members DID NOT bring the photos to the meeting for the world to see...a member of the the State Department ran by Hillary Clinton brought the maps.And in that article it says "Oversight committee spokesman Frederick Hill said committee Democrats made matters worse by asking questions about the satellite photos. So when the Republican members objected to being shown the maps,the Democrats kept asking the State Department for more sensitive information...exactly how is this the Republicans fault? Should the Republicans take the Democrats bullets so they won't shoot themselves in the foot? But even this is dancing around the facts that the militants followed the staffers to the "secret site" and attacked them there twice.Please tell me that you don't still think the site is safe and still secret after being attacked twice by militants.Pssst..the bad guys already KNOW where the safe house is!

And has been pointed out when the congress calls, all must answer, when it was pointed out that it should be a secret meeting, and the inept garden slugs of teabaggers in the house thought they might make some political hay down there, and outted the whole deal, and now the cons are whining cuz in a free and open hearing they were trying to understand the facts of the situation, and hey, republicans said......and now they aint the fuckheads?

So since the inept teabaggers in the house have failed again by forcing testifiers to out national secrets......it has got to be the democrats fault.

Remember stuxnet? People knew America was in on that, but the permenopausal drag queens down in the house were flouncing on its becoming widespread knowledge, and now they are flouncing around again.

Somebody needs to go down there and coordinate policy, or it may seem that the Grand Old Party is floundering.

The SD showed where the annex and consulate was.That,was already public knowledge.

NOT..... where the CIA base was.The cons did that.That....was a secret.

The republicans asses POINTED OUT the CIA base where the rescuers came from and retreated to, after fighting off hundreds of armed men at the consulate.......which is separated and apart from the CIA base of operations in Libya.

That base and all the assets and capabilities there that we developed,
are now ruined.

You couldn`t help our enemies better than to show them detailed maps of our SECRET compound after pointing out on a map where the SECRET compound was.

We could have used the consulate site again.........we can no longer use the secret CIA site b/c it`s no longer a secret.

We may never be able to regain the intelligence capability we had built in Libya since the end of the civil war.

You`re not just spinning but willfully ignoring what the basic facts are.

Pray tell me how the militants hit a secret compound well before the State Department came to the hearing bringing the photos?Could it have happened because "Both compounds were attacked by militants believed to be tied to al Qaeda. According to the article you supplied,there are only 2 sites,the diplomatic complex and the former secret base they retreated to.If anyone showed the militants where the secret C.I.A. site was,it was the retreating personal from the diplomatic complex.Do you honestly think the attackers need a satellite map to a secret C.I.A base they have already attacked? Are you saying they can't remember where they sent 2 waves of attackers?

I am wondering who are the cons? Hard to believe anything "official" coming out of the government sources. After all the US mission (consulate) in Libya was (is) also de facto a CIA base.
The whole Libya destabilizing-takeover operation was very badly executed. Whoever gave the orders to do it (CFR, not clear who the people in charge are ?) miscalculated Obama regime ability to do the job. It is very hard to fix it now. Bringing in Al Qaeda was obviously a mistake. CIA does not have total control over these forces. It is practically impossible to prosecute people responsible (Clinton, Rice, Obama) and mainstream media presstitutes cover the true nature of the situation up. The whole thing (wars in North Africa and in the Middle East) is getting very messy and it is slipping out of control. I expect the financial issues will put end to US involvement (as the most important factor) there in few years.

You are absolutely right that the Obama administration should be shot as traitors.

The facts really are pretty indisputable. The head of security asks for more men - after more than 300 security instances - and is turned down because the requests don't comport with the message we want to send in the area.

Information officer SEAN SMITH wrote that they caught a supposed guard photographing the secure site the day before the attack. WHY IN HELL were they still there?

Why weren't they given backup?

And WHY in hell wasn't there more security on 9/11.
