Seems like there are a few of us who yield 2 pointy sticks on a regular basis. Let's unite!

I admit I didn't search to see if it's been done before but I thought maybe a thread where we could share our project, frustrations and ask questions would be nice.

I started knitting almost 4 years ago and now teach at a LYS a few times a week when my 'real job' doesn't get in the way. I've been consumed by doing things for my new little niece and am currently working on the Shibui ripple blanket.

What's everyone working on?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/6/2012 3:27:27 PM)

There is a thread called "Needles and Hooks" that has fallen by the wayside :)

I am knitting socks now, since my new hiking boots give me a reason. Of course I have a heap of library books out, got some ebay scores, and am pillaging Ravelry. Yarn...yay DBNY.com.

Unfortunately, socks take a little bit at 7 st/in! But I am using the two circulars method and having fun.

one of my ladies at work knits. just the same style fine knit jumper everytime but in slightly different colours.

all of my great aunts, and my nana knitted too. i had some wonderful little outfits for the boy when he was born knitted by the aunts. sadly not my nana though as she passed away while i was pregnant with him. she used to start me off so i was able to do basic stitches, but because she never taught me to cast on i stopped doing it. these days i don't think i'd have the time to get anything finished.

i do love seeing someone else doing it though, and the results.

Me too. I have major knitting envy. It looks relaxing to me. I am just not coordinated enough. My Mum self taught herself from reading a library book when she was pregnant with me.

I never got into socks. Infact I think my first attempt is still sitting on the needles.

I picked up some ArtYarn Ensemble in a beautiful variegated green. Now I need to find a p.roject. I'm thinking the Horai scarf.

I crochet but I had an aunt try to teach me when I was a child. Grandma was the better teacher. I got 2 shawls and numerous baby afghans (I won blue ribbons on a couple of them). My next fair project is going to be a round ripple afghan to give to my mom after next year's fair.

I do have size 50 needles for making broomstick lace with them.

Now to find the thread and stiffener so I can crochet up some snowflakes.

TallullahHk -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/6/2012 6:51:33 PM)

Ahhh, I didn't mean to leave crocheters out! Hookers are welcome, too [:D]

I only know enough crochet to do a provisional cast on.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/6/2012 7:07:25 PM)

Hibbie, I got some DBNY in Emperor Purple. Just need to dive into the closet and find which box it is in. I'll make my scarf with it.

I'm making a pride scarf. Elongated bisexual pride flag with the poly heart on one side and the BDSM symbol on the other.

Recent events around campus have angered me. It's my way of getting back at them without actually causing chaos.

smartsub10 -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 11:44:14 AM)

I'm a long time crocheter (over 40 years). Right now I'm making a scarf as a gift for a friend who was a great help to me when I had surgery a couple months ago.

I work with several young women and I am waiting for one of them to get pregnant so I can crochet my favorite things: baby clothes and blankets!!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 1:00:25 PM)

I'm guessing you've all been to Ravelry? I love that site, but I don't contribute, which makes me feel faintly guilty. I pillage other people's opinions all the time, and of course download patterns.

I am grateful to the shop that has a "customer garage sale" twice a year, so we can destash, then get different stash! I know there are things I will never use. That I cannot bear to part with.

Yarn addiction. There is no cure.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 3:50:33 PM)

Mom curses me if I even look at yarn. I got several storage bins of yarn in Grandma's old house, a corner in my room and in the closet.

I also got too many patterns that I need to organize.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 3:59:00 PM)

I have the patterns and leaflets in page protectors and big binders. I rip the patterns out of the magazines, they go into a pile, and months later I run across the pile and sort it. Sometimes it's OH I love this, others it's Why did I save this?

kiwisub12 -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 5:35:24 PM)

I've got two shawls on needles right now 0 - and haven't worked on either for months - because its been too bloody hot!!!!

Now that its cooling down i've started cooking again and want to resume knitting and start another quilt. Of course , with the knitting i have to figure out the pattern again since its been so long since i worked at it. *sigh* its hard to be artsy-fartsy!

I love working with wool. I tried cotton but found it so unforgiving that it was hard to knit while i watched/didn't watch tv. I love Ravelry too - and lurk a lot. I've had to stop buying yarn since my pending projects were outnumbering the years i have projected to be alive - lol. And that doesn't even think about the time i take to use up all my quilting fabric.

The one shawl i am working on is a herringbone pattern - dark green- i think its called the Kate shawl, to honor the one worn by Kate Middleton before she got married. Lovely thing, but lord, it takes some time.

fluffypet67 -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/7/2012 6:03:48 PM)

i usually have more than one project going at once.

One i carry around in my purse: a scarf made of Kid-silk on 4mm (US 6) needles.

Another two in my charity tote: seafarer hat in acrylic worsted on US 8 needles and fingerless gloves in acrylic worsted on US 7 needles.

Then there is the large project i keep by my chair in the TV room: an afghan in two strands of sport weight LionBrand Microfiber on US 11 needles. The squares of the afghan are done with two strands of different colors (Except the squares on the diagonal. They are two strands of the same color.). http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-vision

Oh, yes, there are several projects that are unfinished and waiting for more yarn or buttons or to be felted.

culareD -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/8/2012 1:37:36 PM)

I knit shawls with a group of ladies...we do it for people who are sick or dying....I love it...not very good at it yet, but I love it none-the-less.

TallullahHk -> RE: Stitch and Bitch (10/12/2012 9:22:04 AM)

It's I Love Yarn Day!

To celebrate I'm going to get naked and roll around in my stash [:)]

And cast on this cowl http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bff-cowl
