Welcome from another Massachusettsian. (One of these days I'll break down and call myself a Masshole, which is easier to spell :)

Boston is chock full of kinksters. Fetlife is a great way to find events. Don't expect to be swept off your feet by your Dream Dom at the first munch you attend, but it's a great way to network.

As for trust, the short answer is trust your gut and watch to see that his actions match his words.
