lkb0503 -> Need new music to 're-program' myself lol (9/20/2012 5:06:22 AM)

I have asked this in other threads, so please forgive the repeat of my request. I need to listen to more uplifting, empowering music. I went into a habit of listening to too many 'break-up, I want you back songs, like "Here without you" by Three Doors Down
( that one is in my head way too much!!) "Still" by Reba, "The Heart can't lie" Reba and Vince Gill and "Tomorrow" by Clay Walker to mention a few. Ok I know, country muisic, don't say it!!

I do lioke classic rock and I'm open to most music other than Metal or Rap. So please feel free to make suggestions of songs or music!! Music is a pathway to healing for me as writing is also. Thanks in advance.

My contribution is an old, bluesy Fleetwood Mac tune:

Why

This isn't the best version but it's vintage 1975, and all they have on youtube.

Country music can be positive too - bands like Lonestar can attest.

"Walking On Sunshine" on repeat may cause you to ingest bath salts and eat someone, so I wouldn't advise it.

Here's my recommendation. Make a list of five general things that make you happy (not a specific person or place). Google those things with the word lyrics. See what kind of songs come up about the things you like, check for them on youtube, and there you go. Hope that helps!

Are you Christain? Old Gospel can be kind of overly mellow, sometimes a bit of a downer in one way or another, but contemporary Christain is usually very upbeat.

Lux Aeterna, by Clint Mansell?

Cantus, by Dead Can Dance?

Both of those are kind of uplifting and inspirational, I think.

Sondheim from Follies  I'am Still Here

There are many good versions of this Broadway Classic.  Barbara Cook, Cleo Laine, Shirley McLaine's
movie version, the great Eartha Kitt, Elaine Stritch and Carol Burnett each of them marvelous
and special for their own reasons.

Here is a version by Dolores Gray from the 1987 Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium.  It is said
that Sondheim himself requested her to do it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TrPkz4XnHE

Either uplifting or the exact opposite, depending on the person:

Laleh - Some Die Young (Live)

Since metal was out, I'm not sure whether Nina Hagen would be, but her renditions of Ave Maria and Seeman (w/Apocalyptica) are quite uplifting to me.

Perhaps you need to give your music and your life a bit of style , , , Gangnam Style that is. Hard to watch that or listen to it without getting a smile on your face. Perhaps the coolest funny music video yet.

Aswad -> RE: Need new music to 're-program' myself lol (9/24/2012 2:39:02 PM)

That was a new twist for me. Michael Jackson does folk hip hop on disco night?

Speaking of...

Crazy, funny and upbeat enough to have one of the most jaded crowds out there bouncing off the walls:

Kaizers Orchestra - Evig Pint (Live at Vega, Copenhagen)

I have some new music that I`d like to share, if you dare!
