Dress like a pirate day would be more fun.

I'd be an English pirate, so I suppose I would say something like 'Hoist the main sail, if you wouldn't mind awfully old chum. Avast, would you lousy landlubbers like a nice cup of tea before I pillage your vessel? Now, if you'd all be so kind as to walk the plank, thanks ever so much. Arrrrr.'

Scottish ones would be more likely to say 'Haw! Fannybaws! Swab thay decks by the way!'

We owe much of pirate everything to Robert Lewis Stevenson btw.

Way to go, Athena. No reason pirates can't be polite and civilized!

We sung that song better in high school (when I could still sing) - and we were not even native speakers.

I’ve polished me hook and oiled me peg
An’ shined up the boot on me other leg.
I’ll say “arrgh” and “avast” as I picks at me arse
An’ I’ll talk like John Silver for this once-a-year farce.
I’ll yell “Run up the jib” from atop the poop deck
And try to avoid Davy Jones’ old wreck.
Now where is that wench with me pitcher of grog?
If she don’t hurry up I’ll have someone to flog!
People will think I’m a salty old codger
As I sails ‘cross the seas ‘neath the ol’ Jolly Roger.
I’ll bloody me cutlass as I plunder and pillage,
Then tomorrow it’s back to my shop in the village.

Well, shiver me wallahoovias, matey.

Cor! I'll have you hung from the highest yardarm in the British navy, Davey.

Avast ya  wenches git your bloody gub polishing and swabbing this spotted dick.   And put your backs into it, you witches and daughters of hell.

I'm celebrating vicariously - the girl is decking out and hitting the bars. [:D]

(I have every intention of going with her next year! It's fun to dress up. And, I do a mean pirate voice.)

As an Englishman, and a polite one at that (except in P & R) I take exception.

The correct terminology would be "excuse me old bean, can I borrow your boat"

BTW.......Wanna see my Golden Nuggets ....... [8D]
