"Romney on Debates: Obama Will 'Say Things That Aren't True'"

LOL!....Oh really.....?

We`ll be the judge of that....Lol....

He`s obviously setting up "the base" for his eventual spankings in the debates, but it won`t be Mitt`s fault.

He`s already given up and is providing pre-chewed/pre-digested reasons to "the base" as to why.

Been another bad week for Mittens.....his super-gaff will be talked about until the Sunday talkshows(and beyond) so the next big pit-fall for him is, the debates.

He knows or thinks he`s going to gaff and fail and choke, in them.......so he`s pre-setting the reasons.....of course(like the liberal-media-bias-myth)............it won`t be any of his own doing......[8|]

Actually, the Libya thing isn't spinning as badly for Romney as I thought it would. Note that the rest of the GOP, which initially distanced itself from Mitt and told him to retract, has dropped it. He did screw up, and big time, but it doesn't seem to have hurt him aside from the loss of focus on the economy.

My assumption is that Romney thinks he'll get killed in the debates, and that's why the desperation Hail Mary pass about Libya. His statements either are creating low expectations, or are completely clueless. For example, saying he never wants to face Portman in a debate again, when it's only Portman playing Obama, and he's about to meet the real Obama? And defining middle class as earning $200K a year?

Really? Really?

You guys really think Obama is a better debater than Romney? The ONLY way Obama wins a debate with Mitt is if the moderators sandbag Mitt and softball Barack.

My local PBS station is showing Charlie Rose & David Brooks talking about this very issue as I type this. Both agree that if Romney sticks to the facts, he'll steamroll right over Obama.

Unfortunately, the show hasn't been uploaded as of yet... The newest show is from the 10th

That's the problem rob. Sticking to the facts isnt one of his talents.

He's a politician. When is the last time you saw one of those critters stick to the facts?

Actually, we know the President isn`t that good a debater or speaker.

Or that good looking or god like as you cons seemed to have imagined.....

But the president is honest and doesn`t have a rep for flip-floping(lying)or dodging the press.....like Mitt has.

And the president`s got the issues on his side.......and isn`t HIDING anything......like Mitt is.

Even a top salesman like Mitt will have trouble selling garbage.

Just saw a recent poll.....said registered voters are swinging to Obama.......

Better step up the voter suppression efforts.

So.....what are these "facts", we keep hearing about......

Stop keeping them a secret.....tell us, what they are?

Romney is the better Prez, Obama is the better debater (sp?)...gonna be intriguing.

SilverMark -> RE: Romney STILL pandering/playing to the rightists (9/14/2012 3:31:33 PM)

Since when does being a business person ex-governor make a person a better debater than a Harvard trained constitutional attorney?

Mitt comes off as formed plastic, the President seems warm, Mitt comes off as a smart ass, the President comes off as a smart man, Mitt will mis-speak, the President will be measured and deliberate in his answers.

Yep, I'd say the President will do just fine against Mitt, and I would also predict Mitt will step on his dick at least twice, if not flip flop in mid-sentence.

I agree with Mark.

Please, do tell us, what qualifies Romney to be a better President than Obama?

I don't think, in my wildest dreams, I suggested that Mitt was a better debater. (Not sure sure where any suggestion otherwise came from...no surprise in this forum that some would interpret my comments as such).

I think I even stated (multiple times) that Obama was a better communicator...and that it would be tough to quash him.

It'll be an interesting series of debates....I hope that Romney puts Obama in his place but...I seriously doubt Romney can.

This campaign just gets sillier and sillier.

Id love to see fact checkers right there, with a cattle prod attacked to each debators left testicle

You gotta be kidding. Obama's skill as an orator is well known and first made him a star at the 2004 DNC. Obama can SPEAK. Romney is known as being wooden as a speaker.

Me too! But then, you and I are part of what Karl Rove sneeringly dismissed as the "reality-based community."

Lookie, my comments weren't directed at you, but at what you had quoted from subrob.

I just happened to do it when your post was the last post on the page.

And in other news, the walls are looking very vertical today.

Gaffes? Romney defending American freedoms is a gaffe?

I wonder if Obama will be asked whether Egypt is an ally or enemy during the debates. (30 years of foriegn policy and the Camp David accords ~ Bye-bye!)

Maybe they can also ask him about his comparison between our dead service personnel in Libya and his campaign volunteers. (Wednesday in Las Vegas)

slvemike4u -> RE: Romney STILL pandering/playing to the rightists - (9/14/2012 6:24:21 PM)

To the Op,specifically the thread tittle.....what other choice does he have ?

To the idea that Mitt can hold his own in a debate with the President....poppycock [:)]

From the article: "The United States, in concert with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, wrestled the key Arab state away from the Soviet sphere of influence during the tenure of President Jimmy Carter. This effort culminated in the 1979 Camp David Accords, which are better known for cementing a lasting peace between Egypt and Israel. The agreement also served as a basis for a lasting partnership between Cairo and Washington — this relationship has safeguarded peace in the region for more than a generation.

By cavalierly saying Egypt is not an ally of the United States, the president has bucked more than 30 years of American foreign policy in a critical region. This casual display of disregard for precedent and a pillar of diplomatic policy should inspire a measure of outrage"

Completely wrong. The facts are that Israel made the first overture. Their intelligence picked up an Egyptian terrorist plot against Anwar Sadat. Menachem Begin calmly asked why not just turn it over to the Egyptians, which was done, and that provided the opening that Carter used to broker peace accords.

Also, we were allies with Egypt during Sadat's rule and later during Mubarak's rule. We're dealing with someone different now, and Obama is right to let him know that US foreign aid doesn't come strings-free. We have previously had allies such as Gadhafi, who had killed all the passengers on Pan Am 103, and Musharraf, who harbored AQ fugitives. Time to review our allies and demand them actually working in our interests.

The guys that were in the line of fire and left the bloody handprints as they were dragged out were making a difference. Just like the Obama campaign workers (minus being raped and killed, but let's not quibble over those little details).
