DaddySatyr -> People Suck! (RANT WARNING) (9/11/2012 12:28:50 PM)

Before you start reading: Yes! It's a rant.

I got into my current profession because, in almost all of my careers, I wanted to help people; make a difference while earning my keep.

I work, daily with people of all backgrounds, political and religious beliefs, personal needs/preferences. My experience with people runs the gammut.

Three weeks ago, I set an appointment for tomorrow (12 SEP) and I said: "Ya know what? Let me know where the employees like to eat and I'll bring lunch." There are 76 employees at this establishment and it's in a pretty "ritzy" neighborhood so, lunch wasn't going to be 75 Happy Meals and a promise, anyway.

Once a week, I have called and had to firm up some details and always said: "Hey, Xxxx, you haven't told me where 'the lunch spot' is yet so that I can order the food?"

I called this morning at 1030 and said: "Hey, Xxxx, the lunch is tomorrow and I still don't know where I'm getting it from."

Well ... It's 1523 hrs. here, right now and Xxxx called me about 30 minutes ago and gave me the "where". I have to admit; it's very conveniently located but I had to pay an extra $50 because since it's less than 24 hours, I get to pay a "RUSH" charge.

So, I get to spend an extra $50 because someone wanted to drag their feet and do something at the last minute.

Oy gevault!

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Typical. One person can make a decision. 75 can't.

Next time you pick a date and time and a place and invite them all.

Can you write it off on your taxes?

And yes, people do suck and a lot of them not even in a good way

Well, the lunch went off without a hitch (essentially). The response rate was phenomenal.

The person that had dragged their feet? Showed relief that I was able to get the order in time to make it (less than 24 hours notice). So, I get the feeling that they knew a rush order was either A) going to be a problem or 2) going to cost a bit more. I'm not sure but her paperwork may get lost in the shuffle. *WEG

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Pay the 50 extra and forget about it and be happy. It is not important in the grand scheme of things.
