So I work for a company that makes hooge yellow machines.

Every week we get a 'Tool Box Talk' where managers prove how they are able to see the bigger picture & how darn super they are & how utterly shite us worker drones are.

This weeks is a fecking dilly.

Ecigs (which are legal even on planes) & nicotine inhalers are banned inside the plant. The only place they can be used is in the allocated smoking sheds at allocated break times.

I feel so small compared to such vast intellectual profundity.

Ah yes.

I worked once at a place that changed our dress code monthly. Which was VITAL since we NEVER saw the public, only talked to clients on the phone.

Summertime: NO SLEEVELESS TOPS, but coloured jeans were okay.

Wintertime: NO COLOURED JEANS.

I remember once being called into the regional managers office because I had been grumbling about no raise for a few years.

He said, "You make more than I do"

I looked at him and replied. "Well, I have more education, more experience in this field, more time with the company and I'd be a whole lot harder to replace. Of COURSE I make more than you do."

After 30 seconds of awkward silence, I got up, left and went back to work.

I had just started my first day of work at a company. I was reading the company policies, which, among other things, stated that jeans and sneakers are never to be worn except on casual Fridays. I had worn my black sneakers to my first day of work (they're comfy and look fine), never having been told not to do it.
