agree with you Space Spank but this can be verified by connecting the laptop to an external monitor or a TV to see if the problem persists on another monitor . It also be as simple as re-installing a driver.

I think I'd agree. Except, I wouldn't go for a laptop unless I really needed one for practicality's sake. You get far more computer for your money with a desktop. Also, the components involved are more easily replaced as separate items. I could replace the monitor for my desktop for sixty quid, for instance - if I were to insist on a *good* one. Otherwise, I could pick one up for a tenner.

Yeah, kinda hard to fit a desktop in a suitcase or messenger bag.

LCD screens if cracked will have degradation of the pixels.
Also, if moisture gets into the screen, it can cause oxidation on the really fine control wires built in and cause pixels to go black.
Start shopping for a new monitor as that one is going out by millimeters.
Or, if still under a service plan, make the call to get it repaired.
