With insurance rates and the pets in mind, I left the smoke detector in place. Because I live in sunny Florida, I have no trouble tossing my steaks on the gas grill outside anytime of the year and that is even better than pan frying.

So yeah, dinner is ready when the fucking firetrucks pull up.

I took the smoke alarm out of the kitchen and relocated it five feet down the hall. Makes a huge difference.

Well RS be glad you don't live where my mom does. She lives in a "Seniors" high rise and they are anal when it comes to fire control and safety. If the smoke alarm in any of the apartments goes off, not only does it call the fire company, but it also sets off a SPRINKLER in the apartment.

Needless to say, people don't fry a lot of food.
