ORIGINAL: freedomdwarf1 Well I'm not religious, at least not in a christian way. So I would find a jesus dildo quite hilarious and a perfect way to show my feelings towards religious doctrine. But addressing strangers with familiarity is most certainly rude and unwarranted. Would you go into a new job and walk up to the female CEO and say "hiya honeypot"?? I think you'd be looking for another new job. Until you are friendly with someone, sensibility says you use proper and appropriate greetings regardless of where you live. No, what matters is what's offensive to whom. We don't get to make that decison for everybody. And if one group is offended by something and the rest of us must adhere to a code of not offending them, then why would another group not adhere to that same code? Of course I wouldn't address a CEO (or anyone) as honeypot, which is a rather exaggerated and ridiculous example, but I'd have no problem calling anyone 'hon' where he lives, nor would I have a problem being called 'hon'. None whatsoever, because I lived in the area and know the intent and was called 'hon' far more times then I can count. The point you missed was that in certain areas where some people live, "Hon" is just part of the local jargon. He meant no offense by it. Sometimes you just have to look at intent and not use something so insignificant as an excuse to lecture and dogpile. Now if he comes in and calls people cunts or dumbasses, then we've got a problem. unless they really are cunts and dumbasses, lol.
