What's a "registered blind friend"? Is there paperwork on something like that? Do you get more for the young when you breed them?

How ignorant. There are different levels of sight. Someone can be 'legally blind' and yet still be able to see some things.

Without my glasses I have a level of vision that would be considered legally blind, IF my vision could not be corrected. Since it can be be corrected, I'm not legally blind.

And although I'd be the first to admit that I don't see very well w/o my glasses, I can see quite a bit, just not enough to function as a sighted person.

Someone registered as blind is someone who has some sight, just not enough to be functional.

ChatteParfaitt, I was poking fun at the terminology, however proper.

My natural vision's quite poor. (IIRC, the ideal correction would be about -8.25.) I understand what it means to be non-functional without corrective lenses. I don't travel without a spare pair of contacts and at least one pair of glasses.

My apologies. I should have known you were in jest, but as we both know it can be hard to tell that from text alone.

I'm sure you can relate to my level of vision w/o correction, I don't see well enough to find my glasses if I misplace them.

Himself's vision is even worse than my own, we *always* buy him an extra pair when he gets new glasses. I have backup from previous glasses, since I tend to change glasses b/c I want a new style.

No sweat, that's why I provided the clarification.

I tell people that I always know it's going to be an interesting day when I wake up to find that my glasses aren't where I put them when I went to sleep.

I'm the the part of my life where my prescription isn't changing much, so I'm able to use the last pair of glasses as a backup. If I do need to use them, everything's not completely sharp as far as I can see, but I'm not a danger to myself and everyone else. So I have that going for me, which is nice...

If the glasses aren't in any of the normal places, I can't find them. I grab a kid and tell them to look for me.

Pssst. Laser vision correction. It works. 14 minutes under a machine, all you gotta do is look at a light and it does the rest.
