This story is legit, being an article in the International Journal of Surgery.  Huffington Post has link to full article, etc.

I think we've got a viral meme happening.  70-year old, BTW.

Full article is NOT sfw. (safe for work!)

I never rode one of these things, but I am sure the wheels are supposed to remain attached.

And he's looking to his right, toward the back wheel, going "AWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwww, FUCK!"

I've rode a 250R Honda 4 wheeler and own a 350X Honda 3 wheeler...and those axles are solid one piece. I've been around other brands and they are the same. So unless the axle decided to break in two places without any stress on it, I figure photoshop strikes again. Now I have seen the wheels come off due to the key not being in the wheel hub axle nut but you can see part of what should be the axles.

I belong to an ATV club and have been on rides involving as many as 50+ machines. My ATV is a Yamaha Kodiak 400, which does have the solid rear axle. But many or most of the newer machines do have independent rear axles, using a differential much like those on cars. That said, though, I agree that the pic is Photoshopped. I can't see any scenario where both axles would come out at once.

punisher440 -> RE: TRAIN WRECK!!! (8/23/2013 8:43:59 AM)

Igor, if this was an independent rear suspension there would be some kind of frame work coming off the bike's frame holding the hub on, you can plainly see the bearing carrier in the center of where the axle goes with the drive sprocket on one side and the brake caliper on the other.Most independent rear suspensions are shaft driven,not chain like this one.

Now on to more foolishness....[:D]
