Kana, you're killing me chief. Seriously, I can die in peace now, I have seen it all. On the off chance this was not a hoax, I did some research. I mean, as sad as the weird demise of that little person was, I can' help wishing I had been there. I had to find out if it was true. But before we get to that, you can take a peek at what one of my favorite comedians Lewis Black said about it:

I figured if it happened once, maybe it happened twice? Maybe there was a rash of missing dwarfs that had gone the way of a hippo snack? Maybe someone had a video of it and I could see it with my own eyes? But alas, unless a giant snake ate the hippo that ate the dwarf, there is no video footage. I watched this behemoth of a snake puke up that hippo . . . but no dwarfs pried open the hippo jaws and bolted for freedom at the end.

I found many links to the news articles about hippos in Thailand eating circus dwarfs with a wide variety of dates. Perhaps it is as I suspected and there truly is a rash of dwarf eating hippos? There was even one that ate a dwarf named Franz Dasch in Australia back in 1994.

the mouth of Hilda the Hippo and the animal's gag

Well, with all these dwarfs being eaten by hippos in public and not one damn picture or video, my hopes were dashed. I started to loose faith in the reality of it. It's a fake that started on user groups long ago and has been carried forth through several incarnations until it finally migrated from Australia to Bangkok, Thailand. At least we can play the video game.
Fortunately (for the dwarfs) I will never see a hippo take down a dwarf like it can a watermelon. The fact a hippo can do that leaves me with a glimmer that one day, in some future circus event, we will see a clip or news headline . . . "Hippo eats dwarf at Disney World while children scream and thousand post videos to Facebook" or something like that.
