Where else was he to go? Doctor, I can hardly make myself leave the cave. I'm sleeping all the time. I haven't had an appetite in weeks. What could be wrong with me?? The sad reality is that this scenario is happening more and more frequently, although not necessarily with beds. Hospitals have mostly moved to motion sensor automatic doors, which do not distinguish between human and nonhuman visitors. Also, as cities grow and engulf river valley corridors, wildlife is becoming the norm, rather than the exception. In my own small city of 90,000, we have a river that runs west to east (more or less) as well as a major creek system that comes up from the south and joins the river. Because I live on the prairies we do not have bears, but deer and moose families,:-(as well as coyotes are common. In fact, as some of our busiest roads cross the river, there are "deer crossing" signs.
