Hey, I actually know someone whose desk looks like that. Ex-dom. Could never get him to let me clean up the area. His whole bedroom was like that. Used to take a garbage and fill it with the empty 2L pop bottles, water jugs, etc. and have to crawl under it to get everything. Then of course there was the matter of never eating off regular plates, it was always paper, to be re-used. And the garbage thrown towards the big garbage can, miss and leave it sitting on the floor. Then he wondered why I left him.

I was noticing the multiple water bottles that have a liquid not clear.

That is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen....worse than my mother's house and that's saying a lot.

My Dads house got like that when he got too sick to do anything about it.
The worst part was, my brother was living with him (more like living off his $4000.00 a month VA and SS checks so he could freeload and get high)
but refused to ever clean *anything*
I ended up calling the police a few times to have them do a welfare check. Stubborn cantankerous old fart always chased them away. But, that IMO was at least good news that he was still kicking.
I finally went up there myself the second I had enough money in hand to get there. What I found broke my heart. The house was disgusting, he had plates next to his bed with moldy food on them because he couldn't get up to take them to the kitchen. He hadn't bathed in weeks, the cat littler looked like it had never been changed. I could smell the gross inside the house as I walked up the front walk. He wasnt taking any of his medications regularly...only when my dubm fuck brother was within earshot to hear Dad yelling to bring him his pills.
I spent 2 days there doing laundry and packing his things. I brought him home with me and he lived here, in a clean house, well fed and cared for and loved deeply until he passed away 10 days after his 60th birthday.
No one who lived close enough had the forethought to bother calling me to ask me for help. I would have been up there kidnapping him a year prior had someone just told me wtf was going on.

gaah, gotta stop writing about it.

I am sure my father's house is pretty nasty by now. He ran off his second wife and has proceeded to alienate any of his kids that might give a damn. His mess wouldn't be caused by 'can't do it' but by drunken lack of give a damn.

I won't help people that won't help themselves but expect others to do it for them. That is both of my parents.
