I noticed something and possibly you Brits can fill me in on the mood and politics of the royals better.

Prince Charles was very conspicuous at the olympics.......................by his absence.

The son and new wife, on the other hand, appeared to be enjoying themselves immensely.

Fair point hill, both of his "sons" (cough splutter) were all over the limpics. He showed up with Camilla to a couple of low key things but generally was very much under the radar.
Maybe it was thought best to leave it to the younger generation, legacy has been a big buzz word over here, his legacy might be more to do with talking to plants and getting fucked over by diana than pushing the next generation of sporting stars forwards

I was disappointed with the show. I hated the music, everyone was lip syncing, I have no idea why certain people were there (George Michael? Jessie J singing Queen and the Bee Gees?? Eww.)

Just a god awful mess.

I got the impression that the royals decided to let the younger princes steal the show at the olympics much as the younger athletes did at the opening ceremony. It's been billed as an olympics for the future.

Elsewhere, Mo Farah has been running away from things.
