Due to my illness I have to restrict my phosphoruis intake which means less than one serving per day of high phosphorus foods. High phosphorus foods include tomatoes, any and all dairy, bananas, oranges, grapefruit, beans and peas, whole grain, nuts, liver and chocolate.

So that about covers all my favorite foods. I've been sticking to the diet but I'm simply sick to death of the recipes I know that fall inside these limits.

What I'm hoping for is some recipes/ideas for tasty food that don't break my diet.

This Mayo Clinic chart is less restrictive - do you need to be super strict?

I'm going off the list my dietician gave me. I had assumed she kept up to date and gave me good info. Looking at the kidney foundation site Their list also says cream cheese and cottage cheese are ok. So I'll go with the Mayo table for now.

If the fruits are ok that will really annoy me since I haven't had a banana or an orange or OJ in better than a year.

Do you like Thai food? That was my first thought when I saw white rice was ok. Hopefully, you don't have sodium restriction as well so can eat fish or soy sauce.

I love thai food but since soy sauce is based on soy beans I'm supposed to avoid it, at least according to my soon to be chastised dietician. Oranges and bananas would have made the last year or so a lot more pleasant.

I forgot to post the link: http://www.nephinc.com/food-lists.asp

Soy sauce is listed, but only in the sodium category, leading me to believe that it would be in the phosphorous category if it belong there.

Anyway, fish sauce is traditional for Thai food and it too is not in the phosphorus lists. (Some people don't like fish sauce, which is why I mentioned soy as well.)

Another reason I'm concerned about the accuracy of her information because she told you "all dairy" when there are eight dairy products on the low phosphorous list.

In helping a buddy "go" low phosphorus, he hands me a list of a bazillion fruits, from low phosphorus to high.  So, I'm looking, trying to figure out how to shop for him without dragging list around.  I hit it!  High phosphorus are tropical; low phosphorus are to the north.... APPLES! And all kinds of berries, pears.... POTATOES are a no-no, but there's these hash-browns in a box that have had phosphorus soaked out.... turns put potatoes peeled and soaked in ordinary water make the phosphorus level go down.  THUS: Pork chops, fresh pear and apple compote, and hash-browns.

Kalikshima, I don't think that site is correct.

It lists foods low in sulfur as "Egg(one)"

The "rotten egg smell" is caused by sulfur dioxide. SO2. That leads me to believe that list has some issues.

ETA: How did I get sulfur from phosphorous.

OP: You have won 3 internetz because you are the first person to have every stumped me on a foodie question.

Tell me what you CAN eat and maybe I can come up with something new.

Treat the good stuff (low-phosphorous) like a "Mystery Basket" on the cooking contests.

CRAP!!!! That suggested meal is low in POTASSIUM, phosphorus, not so much.
