That is interesting. The changes in the brain
and body of the hampsters, not the fact that
there's a link... I would have thought that staying
up late, falling asleep watching infomercials and
depression went hand in hand?

It's on the internet, it must be true.

I'm sorry* but the tests were silly and the conclusions were assinine. I have a bit of experience with sleep problems. What you saw there was simply "light inhibits sleep." I could have told you that without a grant. What's next? "Loud noises prevent people from sleeping. A study involving more hamsters."

I can't go to sleep now, someone is wrong on the interwebs.

*Not true

I should have been more clear (sorry, I was at work and in a hurry). Yes, light inhibits sleep, but what I found interesting, like Aries, was the differences in the brain and body. Also, that returning to a normal light/dark cycle would, over time, reset the system, so to speak.

I can't sleep in total darkness, have to have a light on. Hmmm.

I used to be like that, but somewhere/when along the way I found I preferred absolute darkness (or as absolute as I could make it). Now, thanks to the cats, there is always some light in my room when I am trying to sleep (I am a day sleeper) because "THEIR WINDOW" is next to my bed. lol

well,.. I think tvs give off different waves (almost hypnotising people) and imo computers are very similar but this article makes it sound like it is more of a "light" thing than a tv/computer thing.. So maybe having those lights that simulate sunshine all over the house would change the results? And maybe since exercise affects people positively, doing a lot of exercise daily would counteract the light/tv/computer thing? but no way no how.. I AM NOT DITCHING MY COMPUTER!!!! Being one who suffers from depression, I've known for a long time how light can effect your depression. I have a program on my computer that is for depressives where it changes the tone of the light on my computer depending on the time of day.

I have to say it's been a wonderful addition. I admit the lighting does affect my mood. I also have the "happy" lights in my home to help as well.

Well WTF??!!! You know they really frown on personal websurfing during the day at work. So now what the hell are we supposed to do? Just stock up on prozac?
