ARIES83 -> RE: Earth shifted 10 degrees? (7/23/2012 11:14:18 PM)

quote:
ORIGINAL: ftwwarrior The Earth is constantly shifting. The poles are shifting, as well as the planet's magnetic fields. That is why compasses are not accurate. A more accurate description of what he is saying is, Earth rotates on an axis that is tilted, as we circle the sun our orientation stays the same which means half the year the northern hemisphere will be closer to the Sun and the other half of the year the southern hemisphere will be closer, that's where summer and winter come from. That's the part everyone knows. What a lot of people may not know is the earths magnetic field is slightly out of alignment with where the physical north and south poles are, and this difference in alignment is slowly migrating. (very very slowly and nowhere near 10 degrees) the actual angle the surface of the earth spins on, to my knowledge, doesn't noticeably change, and if it did you would see it all over the news. -ARIES
