TheHeretic -> RE: Mittens Tells Olympians ‘You Didn’t Get Here Solely On Your Own’ (7/23/2012 8:13:27 PM)

quote:
ORIGINAL: DarkSteven Nope. Everything I've read points to a close election. That's been my take, Steve, with the edge to the incumbent, but I'm starting to think it may not be that close at all. President Obama has been burning through money, trying to define Romney in the worst possible light, and, if anything, the budge in the polls is to Mitt. The schtick has gotten old. With this one speech, he has done a better job of defining himself negatively to the undecided voters than all the millions his campaign spent, did to put a negative shadow on Romney. Next, the Olympics, where Mitt ties right in with his successful accomplishments (you know, something on the resume) in Salt Lake. Then he can grab the media cycle again, with a Veep announcement. Then the convention, where a hell of a lot of people will finally start tuning in to the fact that there is an election in November (accompanied, no doubt, by a swarming into our little basement, for the duration), and Mitt will get a big stage to speak for himself from. He's not as oratorically gifted as the President, but he'll have an easy message to sell. When the President steps up again, he's going to be on defense, with a slippery economy under his feet, and a record he can't run on.
