Some of you may have heard about this: The Big Bay Boom fireworks show was supposed to last 16.5 minutes, instead it fired all of the fireworks in 15 seconds due to a command hidden in an encrypted folder. Master and I have been trying to figure out if this was epic or just an epic fail.

This is the best video I've seen of it. It's pretty amazing.

Damn. This one seems to show there were actually 3 different locations that went off at once?

It was actually 4 different locations. The main stage and 3 barges in the harbor.

I wonder if a cowboy was in charge of it?Remember,a bullrider thinks 8 seconds is a good ride,15 seconds should be a great one. [sm=cactus.gif]
I have to wonder if the crew that set up the display got paid in full for the blunder?I know if I had taken my time to find a good spot, gotten refeshments and settled in for a 16.5 minute show,15 seconds would not make me a happy camper,no matter how impressive the explosion was.

They've offered to do a replacement show for free.

omg - did anyone get blown up?

DesFIP -> RE: San Diego Fireworks 2012 (7/12/2012 3:42:20 PM)

It sounds like they got hacked. A hidden command in an encrypted file? Not something they would have deliberately done. Thank God no one got hurt. If they find the person responsible, they'll be a pretty major law suit. Fire works for big cities are not cheap at all.

Nope. But, every car alarm in the area went off.....

Either that or a disgruntled employee, I'd think.
