Why are you proud of Katie Holmes? I think she is a fucking asshole.

Why? Well, not only does she lack talent, she is boring and worst of all, she was VERY well aware that Tom Cruise was into Scientology before she married him. In fact, she started a course of Scientology when she married him and was quite happy to do so.

So there were no surprises about his religion. In addition, she lacks class since she blindsided him and left him on his 50th birthday. Really?? I am sure he did not beat her or the child to warrant that behavior. She played the media, which was smart of her to get what she wanted.

He says he is shocked; I am not in their home, bedroom or any place else. No one has anything to go on other than the media. I know people who are into Scientology and while I completely disagree with their views, I respect their ability to have those views.

But you have to crazy to think she is an innocent in all this; he had Nicole Kidman who left him for the same reason, I can assure you, Katie Holmes needed Tom Cruise more than he needed her.

I am someone who does not judge someone based on their religious beliefs. I think he is a great actor and his personal life is just that. I have never liked her. I did like Nicole; she has talent.

Tom will go on fine without her.

I liked Katie a lot in Pieces of April.

Nicole did NOT leave Tom; he left her... when she was 3 months pregnant.
At the time he hinted that the baby wasn't his.
That has always left a sour taste in my mouth.

Katie called Tom while he was on the set in Iceland for a film.
She did not pick his birthday...the announcement was several days in advance of that on June 28th; his b'day is July 3.

Of course she was secretive about it; it would have been stupid for her not to be.

None of us knows the reasons why she decided to divorce, but I am not going to blame her if she decided that Scientology was not how she wanted to raise Suri. I think Scientology is something one experiences and processes in layers and people are changed when they have children.

My personal guess is that for the divorce to be settled so very quickly, there had to have been a circumstance that Tom did not want made public.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 7:48:59 AM)

I am not religious myself, but I try to be more or less tolerant of others' religious beliefs, unless they are bugging me about them. Scientology is an exception. It is SO fucking stupid that anyone who believes that shit has to be insane, and needs to be told so. it is a religion based on bad science fiction novels. Hmm, what does that remind you of?

Mormonism is a close second. It is almost like the Mormons invented Scientology so they wouldn't be the stupidest religion anymore.

I think the whole Tomkat marriage was doomed to fail and cynical, but it gave Holmes a career boost she never would have gotten on her own, so good on her.

bighappygoth39 -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 8:20:06 AM)

After seeing a documentary about Scientology and how they treat people, I find it funny that they don't like being called a cult, which is exactly what they are.

I don't particularly like Katie, but I do think it's a good job she will have the money to keep them from harassing her and Suri, as they seem to treat people who leave their bubble as defectors or traitors.

I'm sure the cult's lawyers will be trying their best to make sure Tom has it put in the settlement that she can't divulge any of their wondrous secrets... [8D]

Lockit -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 8:47:22 AM)

Knowing the church of Scientology as I do... since my husband insisted we check them out after a walk on Hollywood Bld. way back in the 70's and since they... SOB kicked me out of the church worldwide... Katie didn't have much choice in being secretive about leaving Tom. They are a ruthless bunch and are not passed using unlawful measures to control people. Hell, they broke into government offices. This breakup is bad for scientology.. real bad. They had to settle fast before it turned into an even bigger nightmare.

When I wanted to walk out of the church to never return, no matter what my husband thought... they wouldn't let me leave. Two men escorted me to someone important and stood outside the office while this important someone had a word with me. Talk about intimidation! However, that didn't work so well with me. I ended up telling him that I knew this might be a problem and therefore had someone on the outside ready to call the police if I wasn't home in fifteen minutes. Boy did he scold me... but then threatened I would be excommunicated worldwide. I said that would be fine... I will go now.

JanahX -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 9:11:42 AM)

When I first learned about Scientology, (which was back in my early 20's) - I couldnt believe it. I actually got into an argument with my collage roommate telling her that there was NO WAY that people actually based their faith on that. Paying money to reach each level to find out the great secret (Xenu) - are you fucking kidding me?

Lockit -
When I was in LA a few years ago I was waiting for a cab in front of the Scientology building on Hollywood Blvd. (Its still there in all its glory.) I remember looking at it and thinking to myself - what a crock of shit that is. I also thought to myself - I wonder what the Chinese think about Scientology.
I had a roommate for a few months that was Chinese-Chinese (like from China.) She told me when she first got here to America she was surprised that all the women here wernt like the girls from Jersey Shore. Some of the shit we present to the rest of the world is just embarrassing.

It has a storyline?

It is based on a book by Ron Hubbard, after all.

So was Battlefield Earth and that one doesn't have a storyline, does it?

And just what is wrong with Thor?? Haven't you seen his movies? AWESOME!! (sorry big comic and action figure junkie here)

I do worship God, I am a non conforming Christian. I think there are certain things the church does that I don't agree with. So I never know what to put or say except that I worship God. lol. Make sense?

He was a sort of forebear to the Gods in Greek mythology. He fathered the Titans, and I think one of them fathered Zeus.

PeonForHer -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 10:42:50 AM)

Wow, you really have explored Uranus in detail haven't you, Moony?

Moonhead -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 10:44:26 AM)

Another word, and I'll drive my rocket up Uranus, sweetie.

JanahX -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 10:51:41 AM)

Whats not to love about Uranus? It has the best name, it looks cool as hell, its so far out there that we dont even have a good picture of it, and its tilted on its side. My favorite planet by far.

This is sorta a true pic of Uranus - two pics, one made by Voyager 2 combined with a Hubble Telescope one. I hear Xenu lives there part time. Just ask Tom Cruise - or wait--- was that John Travolta who said that?

@Ron - Ive seen people light their jeans on fire that way. They need smokey the bear pamphlets - so they can learn not to burn.

TNDommeK -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 11:00:16 AM)

Did you see her Saturn thread yet? Pretty neat.

LaTigresse -> RE: Tom and Scientology (7/12/2012 11:33:46 AM)

Well the space stuff is certainly far more worthy of a conversation than some dipshit actor and his whacked out religioun.
