I'd love to go as well, but sadly I can't stretch to the admission price. Bit too steep for my budget...

The thing that does annoy about that a bit is that when it was set up the Beeb pulled the plug on the Doctor Exhibition in Blackpool.

*hugs back at ya*

There is a museum in Herefordshire that has a Doctor Who section. It's called The Time Machine Museum, and it's much cheaper to get in and easier for us to get to. It has old props and costumes, so that's one we're hoping to go to at some point soon.

The London BBC one does sound great, but I have a bit of an issue with getting to anywhere there, really.

Exactly. I feel your pain.

It's such a pain in the arse trying to get there. I really have no idea why they hold major exhibitions and such there instead of somewhere much easier to travel to and around.

Rant over.

It's in Cardiff, yeah? Maybe because of the Torchwood connection?

Ah, right. They had one in London, which was ridiculously over priced.

The Cardiff one would be pretty easy to get to. Admission is still a bit pricey, though.

Well if we could all get overthere I would gladly pay for everyones admission. I am a serious Dr Who fan since the very series. I would love to see it.

I have been to a couple of Star Trek conventions. They were pretty cheesy. But it was kinda of cools to see women and men in their 40's & 50's dressed in full Star Trek uniforms or Klingons. The Dr Who exhibit looks much better. I am hoping to be in Manchester by December for a work trip. I hope I can make a detour!

When the Beeb relaunched Who back in '05 (which, whatever grumpy old farts like myself say, they have done a pretty cracking job with), they started closing down the various franchises that'd been farmed out to other people while the show was defunct (like the publishing of sharecrops, which is all done through BBC books now). The closing of the Exhibition in Blackpool is the one that rankles a bit, as I have very fond childhood memories of my parents taking myself and my brother up there for a day to look at that and see the illuminations. It seems that a lot of the older props (those that hadn't been auctioned off, at least) were kept there, so it had to be shut down to set up the DWE, which is a shame.

Supposedly you used to be able to see that at Renaissance Fests as well, before they banned Trekkies from attending...

An associate arranged a business seminar and several related events in London specifically to attend a Dr. Who convention.

tell your associate, if he needs a date......

depends on the faire promoter. there are some, I have heard, that accept ANY non-current/street clothing (a couple of faires in TX come to mind)..

The ones I attended/worked were slightly more strict. Ren garb for participants required (must meet VERY EXACT guidelines), SOME minor variation, depending on vendors/performers (belly dancers/henna painting) or "creatures involved in stage performances".

patrons could attend wearing whatever, but were generally the stuff of mockery (not in their presence, of course)

It's probably because BBC Wales is the actual producer of the revived show.
