Amazingly enough, this is McConnell on Fox News, video included, being reported on Huffpo....

Really?

I love this quote. "That is not the issue," Sen. Mitch McConnell said. "The question is how to go step by step to improve the American health care system. It is already the finest health care system in the world."

I think he is confusing "Best" with "Most Expensive". Actually, when quality of health care is rated, we rank 15-20.

And these are the guys who say they care so much for Americans.......make that ~some~ Americans.

Fellow -> RE: Mitch McConnell - 30 million Americans is not the issue (7/2/2012 8:58:23 AM)

Republicans are making a mistake. They should avoid the issue. The general public seems to have an impression 30 million will get free health care.  Election year propaganda power can not be underestimated. It is not possible to sell deeper analysis to the public. Attention span and thinking ability of Americans is too short. Calling the system "finest" the senator did not finish the sentence properly forgetting to add "for members of the Congress".

Who said anything about free?

papassion -> RE: Mitch McConnell - 30 million Americans is not the issue (7/2/2012 9:47:22 AM)

We have 30 million without health insurance. Obviously, they can't afford it. With Obamacare, they will get some kind of subsidy to afford insurance. Obama promised obamacare will bring costs down. Obama said everyone who has insurance, their cost won't go up. In fact, he says costs will go down.

Lets see, We add 30 million to healthcare rolls, (who will get taxpayer subsidies to pay for their healthcare insurance.) And people who have healthcare insurance won't have an increase? I'd like to see the math that shows that is possible. Do Libs think that subsidy money came from some magic taxpayer fund that doesn't have to be paid back?

Drop it off the already overbloated defense spending.

"Free"?

The Big Changes You Will

But what if grandpa's new job doesn't pay much and he can't afford insurance? Well, the new law may still cover him. One aspect of PPACA is that people who make up to 133% of the poverty line -- for a household of two adults and one child, this would be $23,344 -- would be eligible for Medicaid at no cost. Meanwhile, families that make up to 400% of the poverty line -- for a household of two adults and one child, this would be $70,208 -- would be eligible for some form of discounted insurance rate, scaled to their income.

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/06/28/obamacare-upheld-how-health-care-reform-will-affect-your-wallet/

So, a family of three would be eligible for medicaid if they make less than 12 dollars an hour, total income, full time employment for one.... or between the two of them.

This is your "free" health care folks.

Anyone want to make less than minimum in order to get "free" health care?

Medicaid expansion is only if states decide to cooperate. Unfortunately, they can choose not to. In Brownbackistan (what liberals call Kansas because of Gov Sam Brownback), they're waiting for the outcome of Nov elections. They're not even setting up exchanges.

tazzygirl -> RE: Mitch McConnell - 30 million Americans is not the issue (7/2/2012 10:44:07 AM)

PA is already moving in that direction, thankfully. And, yes, I think the november elections will carry a lot of weight in most states.

Ja, pawlenty tried that shit here way back when the fed was paying for the research and staffing to set them up, his government went behind his back and set it up.

If we cut way back on defense spending, bend over and take whatever Russia or China want to do with your ass. Unless your military is on a par (or better) than everyone else, what else can you do but "bend over." Putin is making Russia a military power again. Stand by.

Can you name any civilization in history that got "enlightened" and disarmed, that did not get taken over by the "unenlightened?"

subrob1967 -> RE: Mitch McConnell - 30 million Americans is not the issue (7/2/2012 12:00:49 PM)

My question is, how many of these 30 Million don't have insurance because they DON'T want it? How many are healthy
20 or 30 somethings, or millionaires who are self insured because of deep pockets?

We're hearing the term "free floater" a lot, especially from the Dem leadership... What they fail to point out is, hospitals just don't write these people off, only the poor ones who don't have any money... The rest pay for the service received, either by cash on the spot, payment arrangements with the hospitals, or when the bill is turned over to a collection agency. Either way, the bill does get paid, and is not written off.

mnottertail -> RE: Mitch McConnell - 30 million Americans is not the issue (7/2/2012 12:02:08 PM)

Our military is miles ahead of everyone elses, China will tell us what to do because we owe them money, Russia will not now, will not ever, and has not ever told us what to do, we invaded them remember, not them us.

So we are basing things upon what people want or dont want.

Lets get rid of the drinking age.. Im sure the 20 somethings believe they could have handled all that alcohol before 18.

Lets get rid of car insurance... after all... people dont want to pay that.

Lets get rid of speeding laws... people surely dont want to pay for speeding tickets.

How do they force someone to pay? Credit report? Collection service? Come on, rob.. even you know better than this.

If its thirty million dont want it, we dont give a fuck, majority rules, read the constitution.

sadly.....we actually rank 37th....this was a fact I uncovered in the last two weeks as I completed a research paper for school, contrasting US health care compared to universal health care of 5 european and asian nations.

Actually...it's closer to 50 million! Think about it....that means 1 in every 7 americans can't afford it or can't get health insurance due to pre-existing conditions. For all the whiners out there, you better hope it never happens to you!

Put it up to a vote, see who likes the government to assume so much dictatorial power that they give themselves full authority to force people to purchase a given products and / or service

This isnt just about health insurance

See ya this fall [;)]

The question is how to go step by step to improve the American health care system.

Something that they have had hundreds of years to think about and still to this day have done nothing.

I think the inept republican goon and thug whine is getting a little hole in its sole, nowaday.
