How does he get past the fact that he spearheaded a similar health care plan in Massachusett, while promising that his first priority, if elected, is to repeal the ACA? Ignoring the fact that eliminating the ACA may not be what the public wants, and even ignoring the fact that a Congress of uncertain makeup may have a thing or two to say about repeal, how does Mitt escape his past? The record won't let him distance himself from his actions as governor. If he attacks the ACA as an unfair tax or unconstitutional, he will have to admit that it was bad law in Massachusetts also, and that he made a mistake. Who wants a bonehead like that as president? His best bet would be to approach it as a states' right issue, but that is a little esoteric an argument for the average voter. On the other hand, maybe I am underestimating his creativity, or, more likely, the creativity of his handlers. After all, if the Mormon church can declaim plural marriage, after insisting that it was God's plan, but that God changed his mind, who knows what Mitt may be able to come up with to distance himself from his former fervent belief? Can't wait for the debates, this should be good. If Romney had done what Obama did before he announced his candidacy for POTUS you wouldn't know what his record as Governor was.
