oh man, as someone who voted for Obama, you hit that nail right on the head.

Not sure how that makes me look, but truth is truth.

Thanks for making me snort laughing!

FR
This isn't a new low or a bad idea it's just a
new idea. An idea that will become
commonplace and something both parties
do.
In 2008 the Obama campaign used social
media to their benefit. This outraged some
of the more luddite of the Republicans.
Now they all have facebook pages and
twitter accounts. Even McCain learned
about the Google and tweets .
It's narcissistic for a candidate to ask his
base for campaign contributions?
The very act of declaring yourself a
candidate and asking people to vote
for you over someone else is narcissistic
then.
If you have a Amazon wishlist anyone
who knows you can see it and you can
link it to your facebook page. Countless
people have no problem with family
members knowing what they'd like for
their birthday. It's just a tool people use
and that's all this campaign thing is.
No moral lapse has been committed.
No one is being asked to take the money
they were going to spend on their kids
for Christmas and give it to a political
campaign.
Some people had rather have the money
that would have gone on a crap present
go to something they see as more worthwhile
and practical.
Today's shocking new idea is tomorrows
convention. The Internet is full of people
who swore they'd use the Internet,
facebook and twitter are full of people
who said they would never use facebook
or twitter. People who are screaming
about this now will think nothing about it
in a few years when the candidates they
support are using it as a tool and that's
all it is a fundraising tool. Fundraising being
a fact of life for all candidates including the
ones who have garages with elevators
in them.

Winterapple -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/23/2012 5:53:18 AM)

I've never pondered for a second if the country and
the world would have been better off with
President McCain and Vice President Palin.
President H Rodhem Clinton, yes.
But not the gruesome twosome. It came
close enough that I can still wake up in
the middle of the night with heart palpitations
if the two of them invade my dreamspace.

Hillwilliam -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/23/2012 6:33:47 AM)

New low, nah, there's lots of lower political crap.

Totally classless, oh yeah, definitely.

Winterapple -> RE: This really is a new low. (6/23/2012 7:50:14 AM)

I can't see how it's any more tasteless than the other
ways of asking for donations. Going to some
rubber chicken dinner seems much more tedious.
And this is being pitched to the base.
People who are actively supporting the president
and his re-election. It's not anymore
tasteless than sticking a sign in your yard
or passing out pamphlets or any
of the countless other things people
do to support a candidate.
It's not like the campaign came up with
this out of nowhere it will appeal to
a number of supporters as variations
on the model appeal to segments of
the population.

Talk about out of touch and narcissistic! I will be so glad when this clown is voted out in November...

Oh yes, what a 'new low.' Everybody already knows we'd much rather be given some idea about the return on our investment in govt. So I'll save my 'donations' of 'free speech' [sic] for K St. This is plutocratic capitalism and after all.

Think about it kinkroids, why doesn't Obama just 'out' some CIA field agent and find some white house staff as fall-guy to blame for the leaks ? I think it just might work, it did before.

...blogging about avenues of small contributions ? The trauma much have reached your heads.

I think its tasteless and tacky, but then politics is all about tasteless and tacky and downright disgusting... But if you think this is LOW??? you must have a reallly high threshold ... my heart pumps purple piss, when hundreds of thousands of people are being mangled by repub cuts to food programs and womens access to services
I guess it depends where your priorities lay.

Ya know whats ironic, Lucy?

The fact that every person on these boards can end up jobless and broke in the blink of an eye and be one of those dependent on those programs.
