papassion -> Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/11/2012 12:11:22 PM)

Obama went on TV and said the notion that his Whitehouse leaked top secret memos is "offensive," ( Some have said his team leaked top secret memos to make Obama look like a strong leader.)

I assume Obama sits in, or is given top secret national defense memos. If this is true, and I assume he or his aides read the major newspapers that published the memos, almost word, chapter and verse. Don't you think he or his aides would notice the memos that only they are to have? Why wasn't Obama's team the FIRST to be VERY pissed that top secret national security documents were being published in a newspaper?

There was more than one story published and nothing from the White House? Obama's team didn't recognize top secret memos they were just given, when they read the story in the newspaper? It took a Democrat, Diane Finestein to bitch that the leaks have to stop! Are we to believe that Obama really wants to find the leak? All he has to do is pick up a phone. I would assume the President of the United States has the horsepower to demand the editors of those newspapers turn over whoever gave them top secret national defense documents. We're talking national defense secrets here.

Something stinks, and the stink is comming from the White House!

Let's just ASSUME even further than you don't have enough facts to rub two together and that this thread is basically a VaporPost because it is ENTIRELY LACKING OF FACTS.
Go get em newbie.
Tell me... Are you the lefthand or the righthand?

Not that I approve, but every White House in my lifetime has played the "leaked secret memo" game.

Yawn.

I don't approve of the so-called leaks either. But I also don't know that information that certain committee members were ALSO aware of and had enough malice to initially leak (I mean if you look at the precise nature of what leaked, it could be mighty UNcomplimentary in terms of the spin that could be applied)... and I think it's somewhat possible (since most press on it implies the leaks may have STARTED outside based on how they characterize the 'inside sources'), that the white house staffer participation may have been, however hook line and sinker that makes the play, an attempt to foolishly squeeze lemonade out of the lemons left them.
I am not saying that's true or excusable (for INDIVIDUALS on staff)... But it's every bit as plausible.
And NO ONE has advanced any proof of it being different than that and it is in fact implied that way to some degree in the press.

SternSkipper -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/11/2012 1:46:16 PM)

..... Except I AM REASONABLY SURE... By the FOX FAUX and UNBALANCED Boys and Girls.

Hey on a side note... Have you ever listened to Bill O'Reilly's presentation and suddenly realized you were listening to that phony-ass playground snitch all grown up?
You know, the guy who would latch onto any damning bit of bullshit hearsay he could and run to the main office with it?

servantforuse -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/11/2012 6:11:53 PM)

Remember this name as this investigation moves forward. Tom Donilon, Obama's national security advisor. This is the leak and he sits down with Obama every day..

Yachtie -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/11/2012 6:28:34 PM)

Leaks are nothing new. All administrations have engaged in it, often to give the president plausible deniability. The difficult part is whether any such leaks have compromised foreign assets for political purposes..

And the editors and publishers would quite properly meet the demand with, "fuck you, call our lawyers." We are talking about a free press here.

servantforuse -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/11/2012 7:14:42 PM)

Obama won't be demanding this information from anyone. He already knows who it is. It's Tom Donilon.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/12/2012 6:52:27 AM)

Per Pat Caddell....

more talking heads

servantforuse -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/12/2012 8:11:35 AM)

Pat Caddell, a democrat who is respected by those in both parties.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/12/2012 8:35:51 AM)

Oh?

As far as him being a "Democrat".... lol... thats laughable.

Im not saying he isnt right. I am saying your emphatic insistence that he is is based upon his own statements. I require far more proof than that to tar and feather anyone.

And  where are you getting that idea?  First off, he has had a very acrimonious split with the democratic party some years ago, and in terms of respected is a little to the right of Limbaugh.

Second, how the fuck would he know?

papassion -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/12/2012 2:21:43 PM)

Asking for sources? Do you watch the news or read the papers? Were there top secret national security leaks? YES Would these leaks make Obama look like a tough leader? YES Did Obama stop these leaks from the first one? NO Why not? All Obama had to do was phone a judge for a court order for the New York Times to name their source and order the leaker's arrest.
Did Diane Finestein go on national TV and say there were leaks (plural) and she said she wants them stopped? YES (Diane is a Democrat if anyone thinks this is a Republican smear.) What part of this is not clear or escapes your common sense?

If you go home and find your wife and a neighbor in bed, do you need a "source" or can you figure out the obvious yourself?

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/12/2012 3:06:48 PM)

The US has launched two criminal inquiries into the suspected disclosure of national security secrets amid allegations that the White House orchestrated the leaks to boost Barack Obama's re-election hopes.

The attorney general, Eric Holder, announced that the investigations would be headed by two federal prosecutors, Ronald Machen Jr of Washington DC, and Rod Rosenstein of Maryland, who would be "fully authorised to prosecute criminal violations discovered as a result of their investigation".

The president dismissed allegations linking his administration to the leaks.

"The notion that my White House would purposely release classified national security information is offensive," he told reporters, adding: "It's wrong and people need to have a better sense of how I approach this office."

Do you wonder, Tazzy, if that might not be a bit of video we wind up seeing for years?

My question would be.. how is "My White House" defined?

papassion -> RE: Obama and top secret memo leaks (6/13/2012 12:54:17 PM)

Oh, Holder, who is about to charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over documents requested by Congress in the investigation of Fast and furious, is going to lead this investigation? Yeah, he sounds like a fair, honest and impartial investigator!

He has already testified publically that he or his aides don't read a lot of their important documents. You mean this Holder?
