An icon of storytelling. For those of you not into the fantastical, he did the script for the Huston film of Moby-Dick as well, and wrote a book about that experience.

I owe my early desire to write to Bradbury. Big love, Ray.

He was a big kid with a bigger imagination.

We should all aspire to that.

I was lucky enough to know Ray Bradbury in Los Angeles in the 70's. I had a gallery on La Cienega (then the art, or more accurately "the art write off" street.) He would come in once a week, plop down, and we'd gab & laugh about art, movies, cartoons, politics, tv shows, the"biz"...

Ray Bradbury, Great writer, Great guy. R.I.P.

Man, that is unfortunate. I loved Fahrenheit 451. In particular his afterword. He had such passion.

Ray was my first "adult" author that I picked up and read when it was time for me to graduate from the Hardy Boys. I credit him with being one of the major influences on my transition from child to adult. Not only did he get me to see the world in new and different ways but he also taught me that it was okay to hold on to the childlike wonder and awe of the world and the universe.

Thank you Ray for taking me to Mars.

Thank you for introducing me to the Illustrated Man.

Thank you for the Dandelion Wine and the Golden Apples of the Sun.

Thank you for all the creepy shivers and the "WOW" moments.

Thank you.

What I liked about Ray was his wonder of imagination. He was so talented. While Ray was not a BDSM'r (at least that we know) I think its that type of mindset of imagination gives life to the BDSM world.

I'm not sure that's even remotely true, sadly: it seems to be far more limited and mundane imaginations like those of (say) John Norman, Anne Rice, and various vacuous Victorian villains that provide a template for S&M play. That's all about power fantasies at root and the late Mister Bradbury (bless him) had no interest in any fantasy so meagre it was just there to bolster a flaccid ego like an arab strap on a limp dick.

You miss my point. Bradbury had a great imagination. And imagination is one of the things the makes BDSM so wonderful.
