As a writer-editor type myself, I can understand how it happens. You get some phrase that you just love, and you use it with different audiences, never thinking that anyone will hear it more than once and realize it's a stock expression.

Ah well the mythologies of the Germanic and the Irish are not so very far apart. Besides which I would not be bauld enough to ever suggest there couldn't be a British or unionist leprechaun. Dude get with the inclusive blimey-and-bejesus-aren't-we-all-the-best-of-friends-now programme...

Noticed Obama doing this years ago. I think it started in a trip to Mexico so therefore Mexico get the title of first strongest and closest ally.

Those wars to be part of the club I'm experiencing buyers regret.
