Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels Would 'Disconnect The Phone' If He Thought Romney Was Calling Him To Be His VP

: http://www.businessinsider.com/mitch-daniels-for-vice-president-he-really-doesnt-want-it-2012-5#ixzz1vXqCVtMx

From the most tepid endorsement competition to outright skedaddling......no one seems to wanna be Mitts running mate.

Even the much talked about Rubio has cold feet.

What exactly is going on here.

Seems to me that something like this has never happened......not in my memory.

What is it about Mitt that got everyone NOT interested in the VP slot?

Of course eventually,somebody will fill that slot.

But will it be the only guy willing or someone with a little enthuiasm?

It's not that big of a deal. Obama picked Joe Biden who is an idiot. He still got elected.

DarkSteven -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 4:51:50 PM)

Rubio is making anti-Obama speeches and in every other way signaling that he wants the VP slot. So far, the only denial that I consider cast in stone, is Susana Martinez. Which is a shame, because I respect her background and capabilities.

vincentML -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 4:57:45 PM)

Wrong. Joe Biden is definately cool, and down with the people.

Joe in 2016!!!

I wouldn't say poor Mitt, I'd say poor America, because Daniels is eminently much more qualified than either Mitt, or the current occupant.

Theres a lot of folks more qualified than Mitt or Obama but that's the choice we have.[8|]

Well, there IS the fact that we don't get anyone who doesn't want the job.

Owner59 -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 8:22:00 PM)

Which is my point ,Steven.

Never heard of VP hopefuls being so coy before.

The "anyone would be better" line is just auto-gerb from the choir and another way of saying, I can`t/won`t/am to afraid to answer the answer.

At this point,unless Mitt can buy himself a new/better image he`s toast.......no matter who he picks for VP.

One should also note the Tampa will be a brokered convention so his pick is even more critical.

Um, how do you figure that? Romney's sleepwalking to the delegates now. Paul's his only opposition, and Romney's taking all the GOP primaries.

Owner59 -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 9:31:17 PM)

Paul is still collecting deligates...and winning in states like Maine and others.It`s still shaky and NOT a done deal.

Paul can`t win but he can deny Mittin`s enough votes for an outright 1st round win.

No its a done deal. By even Paul's most optimistic count he's got less than 300 delegates and Romney is well over 900.

Owner59 -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 10:23:31 PM)

And needing 1400 for an outright win.......means that Mittins needs to pick well.

Vice President Ron Paul, anyone?[:D]

YSG -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/21/2012 11:22:14 PM)

Eh, pointless debate anyway. The Repubs have pushed away every significant voting block in the last year (labor, minorites, women, students, senior citizens, etc.). Its a sinking ship, really.

So you really think your one of the republicans on the short list, eh?

With Paul, this is all about one moment of grandstanding.
He will yammer on about a bunch of total shiot that he would do IF ONLY HE COULD BE ELECTED.
The following night they will hold the actual vote so not to diss him into running indy ... and the game is over and he pockets whatever campaign cash he stripped away as he snuck across the country.
Ba Bing... end of story...
Anybody who wants to challenge that and doesn't mind losing their shirt is welcome to oppose me in a sporting wager. I have paypal and taking your money will be a distinct pleasure.

Which would explain Ayotte over Rubio... Women are thought to be some kind of forever malleable group, no matter what they do to them. And frankly, they knopw half the GOP has visions of
"I Love Lucy" dancing in their heads when the think seriously about Rubio.
They ARE THAT fucked up.
I think you're right. For the most part they're looking for a low-cost way to screw the Tea Party out of their life jackets,

itsSIRtou -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/22/2012 3:54:34 AM)

Im thinking santorum has licked his wounds from not winning the nod himself by now, having dumped his delegates to mitten, and figures his re-entry into the race as VP will look like mitten is uniting the party.....

...it would rope-a-dope all the nut jobs into thinking santorum will influence mitten into a more far-right platform when the fact is that it'll be just pandering to them long enough to take the money & votes and run to the bank.... laughing at the middle class.

IMO mitten & the GOP doesnt really want democracy, they only want (more) profit.

SIR

i don't think you'd find a single member of Mitt's team that would even bring Santorum up. The guy is the ultimate boat anchor.

epiphiny43 -> RE: Poor Mitt...... (5/22/2012 12:30:57 PM)

I'm trying to figure out how the religious Right gets behind a guy who believes he will enjoy polygamy once in Heaven? (I want to see the press interview where that comes up.) The Church of LDS has officially stepped away from the misogyny of multiple wives for Earthly life (At the point of many guns) but preaches it is every man's right in Heaven? Wives, of course, get one husband, or part thereof? Or are all our orthodox fundamentalists secretly patriarchs? No concept of how women buy into all that.
People who can compartmentalize what I see as delusional beliefs are not my first choice for positions where their compartments overlap reality and their decisions that affect everyone involve every part of their belief system. Normal evangalicals without a very effective and coercive authority structure in their church make me nervous enough.

And Mitt isn't?

I didn't think the GOP could top the "don't vote for us!" ticket they came up with back in '08, but they've managed it. They obviously want the Kenyan to win a lot more than any of their members do...
