Automotive legend Carroll Shelby has died at the age of 89.

The man who inspired generations of gearheads and shade tree mechanics had a history turning the automotive world upside down and making it his own.

I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was younger. My father was an NHRA race car driver and knew more people in the car/race Industry than I can count.

I remember him sharing a glass of Orange soda with me as I sat in a workshop watching people working on cars and men talking. I had no idea what was going on back then...................or who he actually was until I was much older.

Hey smilezz, where ya been?

I've admired some of his automotive things, but I think his chili mix is a bit wimpy.

That's really sad, there were half a dozen collectors in my home town and I bet I've ridden in as many versions of the cobra when I was a kid.
