FrostedFlake -> Does this kind of stuff happen to you? (5/5/2012 12:18:33 AM)

I wonder what the odds are.

So, I'm cruising along on my bike, just minding my own business, cruising along. On my way to pay my rent. That's seven miles from here, no big deal. If there's air in my tires. But, as I roll to a stop at the office, I hear a very special sound. Shhhh-up, shhhhhh-up, shhhhhhhhh-up, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. "Oh shit!", thought I, "My tire is going flat!"

But, no!

BOTH my tires were going flat.

"I must have run over something special." Thought I, "Those tires have armor!"

Half an hour later, at the gas station, I run my fingers around inside each tire, looking for sharp stuff. And find it. But it isn't something I ran over. It 's one of the steel threads that make up the backbone of my Michelin armored, reflective striped asphalt slicks. In each tire! Let me say that again, In Each Tire!

Six thousand miles on these tires, lots indeed most of the tread left and both fail the same way, not just the same day, but at the same time, and in a way they have absolutely no business failing.

And of course, you cannot hitch-hike with a bike.

Question : Have I used up my bad luck for the foreseeable, or does it work that way?

Doesn't bad luck run in threes? That was only two tires, so...I'd lay low if I were you.

Nothing to do with luck and everything to do with the power of the psychic bunny mind[sm=evil.gif]

And Kaliko is correct, this shit comes in threes.

Just be veeerrrryyyy careful putting your underwear on over the next few days... [sm=wiggleass.gif]

*ommm ommmm ommmmmmmmm*

I'd be careful too. That seems like exceptionally bad luck for both tyres to die simultaneously. Can you take Monday off work?

Thanks, Ladies.

I wasn't even going to think about my shorts. But I will, now. I was warned.

bwaa hahahahah, funny! perhaps you ran over something that triggered the massive failure. that, or your poltergeist followed you out of the house.

6000 miles? nice!

So does this count as one bad thing or two? I don't know, I think I'd count each tire as and individual thing, then you only have one more thing to happen....LOL

That was my thought as well. Or perhaps the bicycle carried more weight than usually?

I am thinking two tires sure, but ONE bike, so yeah I would just start makimg the tinfoil hat and kevlar codpiece.

For gods sake, whatever you do, don't rely on a RUBBER condom right now. That's one blow out you do not want! [8D]

I tend to experience the same type of thing with people, so I would say the odds aren't as bad as you think; and that of course, it might be much worse.

Things do tend to move faster downhill, but then comes the palpable sliver of time before the end that reminds you all things STOP.

Kevlar codpiece...

Uhmmm....!

That doesn't sound like fun. Protection, maybe, but the damage done (Sandpaper!) would take some of the "Ha-ha-HA! out of winning that game. On the other hand, Myotherself did warn me.

I didn't realize bunnies were that dangerous.
