FrostedFlake -> Does this kind of stuff happen to you? (5/5/2012 12:18:33 AM)

I wonder what the odds are. So, I'm cruising along on my bike, just minding my own business, cruising along. On my way to pay my rent. That's seven miles from here, no big deal. If there's air in my tires. But, as I roll to a stop at the office, I hear a very special sound. Shhhh-up, shhhhhh-up, shhhhhhhhh-up, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. "Oh shit!", thought I, "My tire is going flat!" But, no! BOTH my tires were going flat. "I must have run over something special." Thought I, "Those tires have armor!" Half an hour later, at the gas station, I run my fingers around inside each tire, looking for sharp stuff. And find it. But it isn't something I ran over. It 's one of the steel threads that make up the backbone of my Michelin armored, reflective striped asphalt slicks. In each tire! Let me say that again, In Each Tire! Six thousand miles on these tires, lots indeed most of the tread left and both fail the same way, not just the same day, but at the same time, and in a way they have absolutely no business failing. And of course, you cannot hitch-hike with a bike. Question : Have I used up my bad luck for the foreseeable, or does it work that way?
