Status: offline 		Set the Way Back Machine for 1997.....I'd been using computers for a while but I hadn't yet been on the internet.

I started receiving SPAM from Korea, written in Korean of course. I couldn't read it, and knew that if I replied that I would get more that I couldn't read.

I figured "OH there must be a internet support group or something, I can't be the only one getting Korean Spam"

I started sending the Korean spam to the Korean Embassy in Washington. They had a program that was supposed to stop Korean Spam.

Well next thing ya know, I started getting 1000X more Korean Spam, along with death treats from people who were getting korean spam from me.

Seem that the only thing I did was to get the Korean spammers to use my email address for their spam. I got my ISP to look at it and it seems that I was getting Korean Spam Sent from Holland, by a known North Korean Spam Ring. operating out of Amsterdam.

Changed my email address and that was the end of it. Figured I would share, it would be good for a laugh. Anyone want to share stories of things that they did before they were older and wiser

I find these messages that I find rather heart warming. Loads of friendly people offer me jobs I never applied for, money from the wills of people I never heard of, enlargement methods I don't really need but its nice to see they are so concerned, free government bonds, free sandwiches and so much more, on a daily basis! I also get a lot of messages from Kofi Annan. He seems to be in a hurry to give me 150,000 USD because he keeps asking me to reply right away (I have been rather remiss in not replying). His attentiveness is quite admirable considering how busy he is sorting out Syria at the moment!

Status: offline 		There is one website out there that has my personal e-mail address. Web crawling bots found it and ever since I get lots of spam. Fortunately it is a gmail address: all of the spam disappears into the spam box and I never see any; and after thirty days it is deleted.

Status: offline 		Spam, I've noticed tends to come in cycles. I'll go months without any and then suddenly get deluged with ads for hair loss, weight loss and viagara (someone out there is telling lies about me!).

I've gotten my share of Nigerian scam mail too although that has dropped of in recent years. A few years ago I got my favorite Nigerian scam mail, purportedly from a young man and young woman. Like most of its kind it was a pitch to send them money so they could release funds that have been seized and and then they'll share it with me blah, blah,blah. Most of these come with some sort of sob story but this particular one - which went on for five pages - was down right Shakespearean. It was a tale of a young man and woman who knew each other only causally, a coup and a midnight kidnapping, torture and attempted rape thwarted by spectacular fight as a heroic young man valiantly fought off seven hooligans. There was a daring prison break and a midnight run through hostile territory that was a back drop for a budding romance under the stars that finally ended with treacherous swim across a raging river into free territory. Usually I just delete spam but in this case I wrote them back and told them they were wasting there potential trying to scam people when a promising career as script writers in Hollywood awaited them.

I never heard from them again but I keep my eyes open for that plot line showing up at the movie theaters.

My other favorite spam was another Nigerian scammer, this time on my C-mail. This person had a very poor grasp of English and the work they put into getting around it was admirable. This beautiful, Scandinavian looking woman (who was "fine" meters tall but weighed only 25 pounds) wanted to be "yoos evythink salve." In case I had any doubts "she" was a woman "she" assured me that "I got no pennies beneath my legs," and had "no qualings in stuffing the workings of the house." To cinch the deal "she" assured me that "I gets the head best long days."

No tanks, I piss... butt tanks for laughings.

Status: offline 		Got a call from AOl saying my then 8 year old had sent out over 800 pieces of spam. I responded "but he doesn't even know 800 people". Followed by poor tech talking me through removing virus or giving him a new email addy. Or both. I just remember being totally bewildered and how kind and patient the AOL guy was.

Status: offline 		i keep coming back to this thread to try and post some example, but can't because i've done so many stupid stupid things and always tried to learn from them. i've always been very careful in avoiding spam with fake emails (firefox spam avert is great for that), but have failed to properly use TOR and be anonymous when I should have.
