Unfortunately, the GOP that I used to support wholeheartedly has been subverted by the Religious Right.

They are absolutely NOTHING like what conservatives used to be. It doesn't matter what a representative votes for or against. As long as they vote against abortion rights and for the teaching of some bullshit called "Intelligent Design" YOURE IN BABY.

Im gonna clue you in from a Biologist's point of view. There isn't a DAMN thing 'intelligent' about how humans are designed.
We are AWKWARD bastards. If it weren't for a large brain and our communication skills, there would have been so few born over such a short period of time that there wouldn't even be many fossils left.

To the Far Righties.....do you stupid cocksuckers really believe that the earth is only about 6000 years old?

I just don't see the religious influence in the current GOP policies...

So all of this abortion/birth control talk has passed you by, then?
The attempts to drop any mention of the separation of church and state from history discussion in Texas schools?

Nope, I see the left trying to make it all about a "war on women" verses the real issue, religious freedom and the first amendment. Texas should have the right to teach whatever the fuck they want to teach, education should be a state issue, not a federal government one.

The religious right has much less influence over the GOP than the socialists have over the Democrats. Two sides of the same coin, only your side embraces socialism, whereas mine has been fighting the religious fight for decades.

Why you have backaches? Cause god took a four wheeler chassis and slapped it on a two wheeled vehicle.
Because doggie style sex is normal for animals, the birth canal is closer to the rectum in most women than it needs to be. Shifting it as little as a half an inch could lessen labor time by hours, and pain by a similar factor. The bible explains this by pointing out that Eve gave Adam a bad apple.
That is just the start of it. Intelligent design is a theory completely disprovable. If we were designed, it was either a rush job or done by a guy who was about to retire and watching the clock instead of his drafting board. Not intelligent at all. Now if you want to talk about the theory of lazy idiot design, then we can talk.

Perhaps you can cite an example of the socialists having an influence on the Democrats, then.
While you're at it, and example of a Republican fighting the religious right rather than fawning to them would be useful as well.
All you have at the moment is talk. Try to substantiate it a bit.

Awesome subrob, please keep pointing out that the Republicans oppose such socialist programs as social security and medicare, I'm sure that will help turn out your core voting block of old white men-of course if they think you mean it, they may vote differently than you expect...

None of that is socialism, dear boy. You'll have to do better than that.

Socialism: Government ownership of some industries, often transportation, utilities, and "vital" industries. For example, if the US military actually designed and built their machines, allowing more uniformed troops, shorter deployments/longer dwell times, and better equipment that the troops would have better familiarity with, that would be socialist.
See also, uniformed troops making their own chow, fixing their own machines, etc. A practice that is being phased out in favor of letting private industry gouge-er, I mean take care of those vital services.

Being a Brit, you can embrace your nanny government to your heart's content, as your Euro union crumbles around your ears, but you're wrong, nothing I mentioned is in the US Constitution, and is socialism at it's most egregious.

In what way is Andrew Sullivan Moonhead's boy? Sullivan's usually described as a conservative.

Wpw. An ad hominem applied to an entire country. Would that be ad patriam?

But seriously, what difference does a poster's nationality make? Either someone's points are valid or they're not.

You keep using that word. It does not mean what you think it means...
Define socialism. I know some Americans have odd notions about what is and isn't defined as socialism, but yours seems to be odder than most.
(I'll even give you a clue: a society that's even figuratively headed by an unlected monarch who rules by divine right isn't socialist...)

That's a good way to chase off the moderates.

You don't win elections without their support. If the Republican party wants to become irrelevant, all they have to do is keep moving farther to the Right and trying to shove their religious dogma down everyone's throat.

If ?
Is that modifier really necessary ?
Hasn't enough data be collected ?
