Owner59 -> NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 3:29:48 PM)

I`m not a cop hater or a kill joy but this is way over the top.

"N.J. State Police lead luxury cars down Parkway at high speeds"

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/04/video_shows_nj_state_police_le.html

"State officials have reacted with dismay to allegations that the New Jersey State Police led a high-speed caravan of sports cars to Atlantic City last month without regard for the safety of other drivers, and they have promised swift action against those involved.

But it apparently wasn’t the first time it has happened.

The State Police escorted another caravan of luxury sports cars down the Garden State Parkway in 2010 at speeds reportedly up to 120 mph, and it was all captured by two young men who happened upon the procession and then posted a harrowing video to YouTube"

"N.J. state troopers face probe for 'Death Race 2012' down Parkway to AC"

The State Police are investigating complaints that two troopers escorted a caravan of luxury sports cars at speeds in excess of 100 mph down the Garden State Parkway to Atlantic City last month. The occupants included former Giants running back and sports car enthusiast Brandon Jacobs, according to a source with knowledge of the trip.

In the complaints, obtained by The Star-Ledger, witnesses said that in the early afternoon March 30, they saw two State Police patrol cars with their emergency lights flashing driving in front of and behind the southbound caravan, which included dozens of Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other vehicles, all with their license plates covered with tape.

One witness, Wayne Gantt, dubbed the escort "Death Race 2012."

"I had the great pleasure today of nearly being killed by, not one, but two, Lamborghinis traveling in excess of 110 mph in a (New Jersey State Police) escorted ‘caravan’ of approximately 30 exotic vehicles all traveling well over 100 mph," Gantt wrote in an e-mail complaint to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which oversees the Parkway."

It had to have been planned b/c all the cars had their tags taped over to hide the numbers. The distance they drove(at over a 100)was to long for there not to have been other troopers were involved and who knew or who saw the racing.

My biggest beef is that I'm never invited to take part in such fun. :(

Owner59 -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 3:39:57 PM)

You have to win superbowls and world series` to be invited........[&o]

Hillwilliam -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 4:41:53 PM)

Why am I not surprised?

I wonder if this will make it up to Christie's office?

Baroana -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 4:44:08 PM)

Clearly none of you live in New Jersey if this is what you call a scandal. Your skin would melt off your skulls if you saw what goes on here.

Owner59 -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:29:23 PM)

If a bystander(driver) had been hurt or worse......it would be a huge scandal.

I don`t blame Christie tho.But I`ll be interested to see who he sides with, the troopers or the public.

I don`t recall where(Japan?)but recently there was a major car crash involving a number of exotic cars going at high speeds on a road trip.I don`t think anyone died but a lot of high-end toys were destroyed in the pile-up.

servantforuse -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:32:44 PM)

Was John Corzine driving one of them ? His limo driver was caught driving 100 + with him in the car when he was govoner.

Owner59 -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:35:16 PM)

Driven by a state trooper and escorted by state troopers. He should have taken the helicopter....[:D]

servantforuse -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:37:02 PM)

And that made it legal and safe?

Owner59 -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:38:39 PM)

And where did I say that?[8|].....[:D]

servantforuse -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 5:41:18 PM)

Actually he was not escorted by state troopers. He was driven by a state trooper as all governors are. He just thought it didn't matter because I'm John Corzine.

Owner59 -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 6:30:50 PM)

There were a number of vehicals.........cranky......

So you`re saying Republican Gov. Christie is responsible for this?

Cuz I`m ok w/ that.[:D]

servantforuse -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 7:55:52 PM)

When did I ever mention governor Christie ?

Aylee -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 8:31:30 PM)

~Fast Reply~

There is a certain sense to what happened.

servantforuse -> RE: NJ State Trooper scandal brewing...... (4/23/2012 8:49:32 PM)

You are right Aylee, Corzine and his driver thought that they could drive 100 MPH + because the laws didn't apply to them as they did to everyone else. Now John Corzine finds himself in more trouble which is a lot more serious than a speeding ticket.

Actually I was referring to the troopers leading the sports cars.

They are guys in sports cars. They are going to want to speed. Testosterone or something.

I can see the logic of, "It will be safer if we lead, and speed, with our lights on."

There is a logic there.

As far as Corzine goes. . . isn't that what "privilege" means?

Although, after Princess Di's death, one would think this kind of thing would stop.

Are you saying that laws don't apply to rich people with connections like they do to the rest of us?

Are they supposed to? Yes. In practice? No. This surprises you why?

It doesn't surprise me a bit. It just appears you were trying to justify the behavior.

No. I said that I could see a certain logic. I never said it was a good thing.

Do you have a niece or nephew? When you have asked them, "What were you thinking?!"

Well Uncle Hillwilliam, it is like this. . .

(impeccable logic follows)

Why are you looking at me like that Uncle Hillwilliam?

This wasn't good, was it?

Sorry Uncle Hillwilliam.
