"New Jersey State Police Officers Suspended For High Speed Escort, Lawyer Plans Investigation"

"The lawyer for a New Jersey state trooper who was suspended for escorting a high speed caravan of exotic cars to Atlantic City said today that such escorts "happen all the time."
Sgt. 1st Class Nadir Nassry, 47, and trooper Joseph Ventrella, 28, were suspended without pay on Monday while the New Jersey Attorney General and state police investigate the March 30 incident.

Motorists who were caught in the whirlwind of the Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris said the "joyride" down the Garden State Parkway was dangerous for other drivers sharing the road.

"I had the great pleasure today of nearly being killed by not one, but two Lamborghinis travelling in excess of 110 mph in a NJSP escorted 'caravan' of approximately 30 exotic vehicles," motorist Wayne Gantt wrote in an emailed complaint to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. A copy of the complaints were provided to ABCNews.com.

Many of the vehicles were weaving through all three lanes, Gantt wrote.

Motorist John Kennedy said it was "a very strange and unsafe situation that I could not comprehend the need."

Once in Atlantic City, Kennedy said he saw one of the drivers peeling tape off of his license after the dash down the parkway.

Among those participating in the high speed jaunt to Atlantic City was reportedly NFL star Brandon Jacobs, the New Jersey Star Ledger reported.

Charles Sciarra, who is the attorney for Nassry, said "other corporate types and a philanthropist" were also involved, but declined to name names while he was conducting his own investigation.

Sciarra said the drivers were heading to the gambling mecca because they were involved in a charity event. He did not provide any details on that event.

"These escorts happen all the time so the suggestion this was some uncommon event is a joke," Sciarra said."

Are you saying that laws don't apply to rich people with connections like they do to the rest of us?

Are they supposed to? Yes. In practice? No. This surprises you why?

It doesn't surprise me a bit. It just appears you were trying to justify the behavior.

No. I said that I could see a certain logic. I never said it was a good thing.

Do you have a niece or nephew? When you have asked them, "What were you thinking?!"

Well Uncle Hillwilliam, it is like this. . .

(impeccable logic follows)

Why are you looking at me like that Uncle Hillwilliam?

This wasn't good, was it?

Sorry Uncle Hillwilliam.

The difference is that my niece hasn't tried to justify anything yet that could get multiple people killed and cause hundreds of thousands in damages.

Actually, these things are allowed in NJ. The problem was that they didn't get the proper clearance.

From the NJ Law Journal:

ESCORTS OF CAR CLUBS APPARENTLY FLOUTED STRICT STATE POLICE POLICY
Use of state troopers to escort caravans of automobile-enthusiast clubs on New Jersey highways on two occasions appears to have violated a standing state police policy requiring such actions to be cleared at the top. Despite State Police Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuentes' statements that lower-level station commanders could authorize escorts and that they are routinely approved, a document made public Friday says escorts are allowed in limited circumstances and require approval by the Field Operations Section commanding officer, a high-level official. The policy's existence means that if state police escorts are commonly approved at the local level, there is rampant noncompliance.

There's a difference between an escort of old classics tooling down the highway at 40-50 MPH nad an escort of sports cars at 100+.

The former rarely gets people killed.

I don't know what sorts of activities get approval.

So you`re saying Republican Gov. Christie is responsible for this?

Did they get to the end of the run and hop out with bags full of meatball subs?
That would prove fat fuck was at least in the area.

True that brother.....

So far,the #1 at the NJSP isn`t talking......until an "internal" investigation is complete.

Hearings about it tho, are in the progress in Trenton.

To date, two suspensions and ten transfers.

I was AT Byrne Arena the night they dispatched Adam Katz. Those security company clowns were composed of about 1/2 moonlighting Jersey troopers and literally a 1000 people saw them grab Adam, who's only crime was not breaking into a run when they came out to spook the crowd off the apron into the parking lot. Probably half a dozen of em surrounded him and started using him for a hackie sack. I must've called the NJ AG's office (and I mean the fucking 800 # they set up for that purpose. And the would give me this song and dance about 'looking into it" and never once was I or any of the other 20 or so people I know who watched, ever interviewed. We ended up giving affidavits to the Katz family who later sued for like wrongful death.
My Ass ... they beat the kid unconscious, threw him in a van and drove off. We all thought they were cops the way they conducted themselves. He was later found laying in this rte 16 access road which was adjecent to the Meadowlands.
LEOs were definitely involved... no other way it coulda been... Shit, the FBI investigated, they had huindreds of opportunities to interview witnesses and no one I ever talked to was called. And in the final years of the Grateful Dead's touring, I must've met a few hundred people who said stuff like "Yeah, I was there and I think I saw it happen" almost universally in those words.
I hope fatso doesn't just cover the little race up, but I bet he will.
