So yesterday was my last day off from work, and I was determined to re-establish my rhythm, after it has been so disrupted this week due to mandatory overtime. My plan was to hit the gym, have a badass workout, followed by a plate of homemade nachos, and an evening spent in the company of a good book, a setting sun, and a Black & Mild. Instead, on my third rep, I have to dump the weight, and 455lbs bounces off my right middle finger, trapped between that weight and the safety pin. So there I am, with a middle finger that resembles an exploded hot dog placed in a microwave. A trip to the hospital later, and now I'm high on percocet facing down at least ten days of inactivity. Dammit.

I can still enjoy the reading, when the severe effects of the percocet wane, but I had to postpone the nachos, and am instead eating fig newtons. Sigh...not the same.

OMG! Lazarus, seriously, make sure that everything gets done, the right way. You need that finger back. All the way back. That's your good right hand. Emphasis. These days, a lot of bacteria strains have been bred (factory farming methods) to resist antibiotics. If this comes up, ask for Mupirocin. Don't just assume things will be OK with the regular triple antibiotic ointment. Don't let the wound dry out or it will heal badly and slow. And feel free to bother the Doctors. I'm sure you knew this, but hey! I'm really sorry this has happened to you.
