I could go into the side track about laws, sex acts and human nature.
I could mention that marriage with intent to have sex is a 20 year felony in Michigan.
I could point out that oral & anal sex is illegal and 99% of you already commit sex offenses frequently.

But, instead I will mention that perving the OPs profile photos... well, those legs and that nice ass do inspire thoughts of illegal anal sex. So in her case, voyeurism inspires thoughts of sex offenses. Her ass appeals to my "Harmless Erotic Preference". Harmless in that I am not going to stalk her down or go rape my neighbor just because she has a pretty butt pic in her profile. I think voyeurism is no different than a knife. Like sex and sexual media, their are knives ever where. It isn't the knife that makes someone commit a crime. It is a criminal mind that sees a knife and does something criminal with it. The resulting act is the symptom not the cause.

Lol, and MY response to perving the OP's profile is:

OP - I see you are in Orlando, just a few hours away from Trapeze and Miami Velvet, where you can watch to your voyeuristic heart's content.

Humans are innately programmed for two things: Food/Sex (Male: Sex/Food), nothing increases sex except the removal of barriers which have been imposed upon it. Sex offences increase when laws against nature increase. Pretty simple.

actually I belive the opposite is true, - when sex is outlawed those forms of sex become the forms most wanted to be done....because more people become aware it CAN be done and want to try it. and of course, some do it many times after because they learn they like it..... alot!
every society that has placed sexual restrictions like say, children for instance - like china did, many families found ways to have as many kids as before the "law" came out. The victorian era is another,...folks LOOKed prim and proper on the street, but "debachery" of all kinds was the rule once the doors closed...

Not much different than illegal drugs or alcohol during Prohibition ....tell people they cant have it,.... they want it more.

Fabulous pegs, Ms Elisha

I hope you don't mind that I noticed.

@ DesFIP: Now this is more the response I was hoping for, a clear indication of what you think. It is indeed a bold statement, yet one I do not believe in, but rather one I post here for the sake of discussion to see all the different takes on it. I think this as with many such statements that hit a nerve, tends to lead to some unintentional verbal attack on the person rather than the topic at hand. My apology if I am misrepresenting your response. I do appreciate your comments and those of others before you.

Ms. Elisha.

" It isn't the knife that makes someone commit a crime. It is a criminal mind that sees a knife and does something criminal with it. The resulting act is the symptom not the cause"

Thank you. I appreciate the analogy.

So A predator is often voyeuristic but the Voyeur is not often a predator? I can appreciate that.

Personally, I think you've got the analogy backwards - reverse thinking. Like, for example, sick people take pills so if you don't take your pills, you're not sick.

Seems to me that most sexual predators are ambush predators - they're accustomed to waiting and watching for that right moment. This requires a level of patience, of fascination with their target that's similar to voyeurism. So yeah, this makes the sexual predator voyeuristic but does not make the otherwise passive voyeur a "hands-on" sexual predator.

As I stated earlier, the human animal just isn't evolved as society likes to hope and believe. Bring back public executions to the local footy stadium and charge a minimum hundred bucks a ticket. Anyone here really think the "show" won't be sold out?

We're all just a natural disaster from being a base and highly dangerous animal, again. But for society's sake, shhhhh....

Focus.

If we criminalize certain sexual acts (which he refers to as "laws against nature"), then sex crimes increase because their definition became broader. It's actually an interesting hypothesis, which hinges on people's behavior not being changed when the laws changed.

I've always been fascinated that we criminalize normal behavior. As stated already, humans normally watch others (there's a porn industry for a reason), so that's the voyeurism part which is partially criminalized (if even it is likely a misdemeanor to watch your neighbor with binoculars in the shower).

But we criminalize other normal activities also. For example, half the world (mostly Europe and the Americas, with the major exception of the puritanical USA) allows prostitution as a normal part of society. Yet we criminalize it here - for some reason.

In addition, it's undoubtedly natural for a 19 year old to want to have sex with an 18 year old - yet - we criminalize that too (for good reason in today's complex society).

Some societies still criminalize infidelity. Even urinating is criminalized, when in a public place (whether or not anyone sees it).

So, what's interesting to me about what I'm realizing from this discussion - is the wholly natural acts that we criminalize - one of them is watching someone else naked who is (presumably) unsuspecting.

I agree totally with the bolded parts above.

...but Dude bringing back public executions.....That is to much for me. People do like to watch all kinds of things violent, sexual, and a lot more. But we know how to draw the line at what is illegal or morally wrong for us. Those that don't care about those limits are the ones that run right over those lines and fall into sexual offense.

Thanks for the comments. Great learning points from each of your contributions. @DarkSteven, I stand corrected, and if I could change the title (can't figure out how to change it now that it is posted, guess there is no editing post), I would have it read, "VOYEURISM LEADS TO INCREASED SEX OFFENCES!". @pompeii: as far as narrowing the definition, I appreciate your breakdown, however I intentionally left it broad so that I could get all the different takes and that seems to have worked. I appreciate your contributions and that of Focus.

Ms. E.

You sign in to a post and you take that little space up above (it's called the "subject") and......

(You change it).

Amazing eh?
