My stories:
The first time, it was a pair of white blobs traveling in formation right along a mountain range mid-day, but going about 10x faster than any jet I'd ever seen. That could have been a military test (I live in LA, south of military base).

The second one was from the balcony of my hotel room, overlooking Copacabana beach in Brazil one night. It came in almost perpendicular to the earth at about a 70 degree angle, as fast as a shooting star (which can travel as fast as 45k miles an hour or more). That's what I initially thought it was, and that lasted for less than a second. But then it abruptly made a 90 degree turn while simultaneously slowing down to a fraction of its original speed, to fly parallel to the horizon; that was the clincher for me that it was beyond human capability, and was being intelligently navigated.

It was a bright light, several miles off the coast. There's an island with a lighthouse a few miles off the coast, and a large ship was docked about a mile from that, which gave me some perspective on this bright light, which seemed to also be a few miles off the coast, at a very low altitude. After it made its turn, it travelled at a very high speed that appeared to be about 10x faster than a jet would have covered that distance. It disappeared into the darkness.

The wildest story I've ever heard from someone first-hand was having a ball of light type of craft come inspect them for a moment on a lonely dirt road, and then shoot off.

1970s on a 6 lane highway in the Detroit suburbs. HUGE weird black triangle shows up and blocks out the stars in the sky. It has funny colored lights scattered throughout it. It was like the surface under it wasn't smooth and the lights were mounted in recesses so as it moved, different lights would be visible directly overhead but obscured as it moved along. Size... hard to say, at least a city block long or more. Seeing this monster block out the sky through my windshield freaked me and my girl out... it was moving too slow to be plane. I slowed down and pulled over only to see everyone else on the highway doing the same thing. We listened... thinking only helicopters could go so slow... maybe it was a fleet of copters hauling some big industrial triangle shaped thing. No noise. It crept along for another minute or so then smoothly accelerated out and over the horizon in just a few seconds.

Late 1960s, I was sitting on the steps at my grandma's house. My uncle the air force pilot pulled up. He had stopped at grandmas on his way to Delaware for debriefing. He went to the trunk and got a pack of Pall Mall cigarettes. He kept that "emergency pack" there because he had quit. He was visibly shaken up. He sat down next to me to have a smoke on the porch. I asked him how he was, noting that he looked upset. He said he was home on leave after an upsetting mission. I asked about it and he told me the story. He told me they were scrambled to intercept something. When he got in the air, a glowing sphere tailed him and scared the shit out of him. He described (with verve) his maneuvers which only lead to this thing circling around him to end up dead in his path a hundred yards away or so. He dived, rolled etc... he did everything he could to shake it but said it was as if it was as if it were attached to a pole that came off the nose of his plane. Then suddenly it flew away.

A few years later I asked him about it, in particular I wanted to know what color the glowing sphere was. He looked at me like I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about.

More than 10 years later my mom flew me in to design a clinic for her and my uncle. He had just retired from the air force and they were going into business together. I spent a few months overseeing the contracting and writing training manuals for the staff. Once it was all built and my job was done, I asked my uncle about it again. He had no idea what I was talking about. I gave trying to talk to him about it further.

1950s - After serving as medic in the navy, for few years, my dad's career was primarily in military and aerospace applications. Such as the Air Force AN-FPN-13 Distant Early Warning Radar system, the LaCrosse artillery missile, and as a senior flight test engineer at Cape Canaveral on the USAF Titan missile project and the NASA Vanguard Satellite program. I'll never forget his bringing home pictures his coworkers had smuggled out of the office, They were photos of inflight delta wing jet stress tests that showed flying discs following them. Then I would see the same "official" photos released by NASA in the paper and they had been cropped to remove the area where the discs had been. I was very young when I learned not to believe what you read in the papers.

I saw this thing in the sky, white in color with odd markings on it. It got bigger, and bigger. I wondered what it was. Then it hit me.

Some friends and I were out on a deck, smoking, one cold winter night, when they saw the most mysterious orange light in the sky. It jerked. It moved. It would disappear in one place, then reappear somewhere else in the sky, but still moving at the same speed, in the same general direction. It freaked them out a bit.

I saw the anti-collision/training lights on a couple F-117 stealth fighters that were in town for some wargames with the local air national guard, but I wasn't about to tell them that, and spoil the fun.

I was many years in the British Merchant Navy and saw a lot of strange lights in the sky at different times. Stranger than any of thos though were some light that were seen, noted and logged underwater, moving faster than anything could or should move underwater at that time. We were doing about 20 knots and whatever the hell it was came past us at an unknown depth doing one hell of a speed. It went from aft to forard on the starboard side, back again on the port side and then once more on the starboard side and then disappeared.
It was easily seen because of the bright lights it was showing but because it was night and at sea, impossible to see what depth it was but from the time it passed the ship the last time to the time the lights disappeared over the horizon was roughly ten seconds.
By the time it passed us that third time, just about everybody on the ship was awake and saw it and it was duly logged by the old man and witnessed by the mate and chief engineer and chief steward.
The gods only know what it was but that thing could surely move.

I was absconded by aliens in 1983.

They came to my door....dressed as pizza delivery guys (good fucking pizza by the way...late...but good).

They probed my Mini Van, did an oil and tranny fluid check, asked me about my seat recliner....asked me if I knew anything about Hooters (I said I didn't).

Gave them a coupon for Arturio's down the street...they asked me if I had any nickles, explained to me that they shit out 7 ounces of hashish if I gave them 7 nickles per 3 ounces (it's what they do...they needed it for their fuel tanks)...I told them my bank was open in 3 hours....brought them $100,000,00 worth of nickles and today I'm the wealthiest man this side of the Peco's.

They left.

I am always surprised when people admit to having seen something unusual. Even if they had most people keep silent for fear of being mocked.
I saw something when I was quite young. It was bright and occasionally less bright with markings of some sort. It was there for a long time (at least in my perception) and then it was gone.
I was very relieved when years later other people told me they saw something similar around the same time.
