A new birth control procedure shows promising signs of becoming another viable option for people who don't want children now, but may want them some day.

Techcitement points out that the procedure, which is in advanced clinical trials in India, has been found to be 100 percent effective.

One downside -- depending on how you feel about shots -- is that it requires the man's penis to be injected with a polymer gel called Vasalgel, after a local anesthetic has been given. The substance works by breaking apart sperm.

The whole procedure takes about 15 minutes and lasts ten years or more and is more easily reversible than a vasectomy.

As the Male Contraception Information Project notes, if a man decides he'd like to have his sperm up and running again, he can get another shot and, within two to three months, the baby-making can commence.

Studies over the last 25 years have reportedly found the procedure is safe to use on both humans and animals.

Researchers are hopeful that the procedure will be on the market in the U.S. by 2015, with clinical trials beginning in 2012. Currently, the process is only available to Indian men involved in the trials.

gel is gel, right?.. I wonder if some fly-by-night operations might inject silicone instead.. I wonder what silicone would do to the appendage.. [&:]

Good luck with that.

I felt an urge to bolt for the door as soon as I saw the words "the man's penis to be injected..."

Masochists will go for it.

From what I understand, free floating silicone in your body is very nasty. It'll eventually move and when it does it'll wipe your body out along the way. I mainly heard about this from a 60 minutes many years ago talking about people doing it as permanent collagen injections and the ones they showed had some extremely nasty scars from it.

Yeah but only if the doctor is a hot chick dressed in leather and who ties him to the examination table first.

yes I know.. silicone is nasty stuff,.. especially the kinda silicone they sell at Home Depot!.. but people do strange things and take weird risks in the name of saving a few bucks.. [8|]

I love articles that make men cringe and cross their legs!... there must be a little sadist in me after all.. [:D]

littlewonder -> RE: New birth control method for men! (4/4/2012 2:50:07 PM)

yyeaahhh..sorry but it wouldn't matter to me what male birth control there is. I would only concern myself with my own protection. I'm not going to rely on a man and hope and pray that he took precautions.

That's not saying it's not a great thing...it is, but if you are fucking and saying "oh he took the shot so I don't have to worry" you may wake up one morning say "shit!". lol

Thankfully I no longer have to worry about that for two reasons.

And the problem with that is???????

LPslittleclip -> RE: New birth control method for men! (4/4/2012 3:15:57 PM)

the proceduer places the gel in the vas defrens and forma a plug that can be effective for several years and can be removed by a second injection that disolves it it is being studied for possible use in the military

Duskypearls -> RE: New birth control method for men! (4/4/2012 4:32:44 PM)

This seems like a dangerous business to me. Polymer plugs in the Vas deferens? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I'm guessing this will lead to problems like penile cancer at the very least. And plugging up sperm so they can't leave the body? Insanity. I hate to think of the long-term affects of this to men.

From my own experience, I've learned (painfully so) how devastating, later in life, taking birth control pills early in life can be. You can only muck around with Mother Nature by supressing natural functions so long before she kicks back with both barrels. Heaven help us all!

Jesus H. I only had to read that sentence . . . . Fine, if my partner never wants me to get a hard-on ever again.

"Darling, I'm feeling extra-horny tonight. My dick is full of a polymer gel and my sperm has been broken apart" . . . Wow. Hotness!

Seriously, though, none of this obviates the old problem: it isn't the man who carries the bun in his oven. What's the point?

Muttling -> RE: New birth control method for men! (4/4/2012 5:22:06 PM)

I'm a masochist and am definitely into medical play.

This said, I'd be screaming my safe word if my Miss even suggested this to me. I'll take the vasectomy, but an injection into my injection tool....mmmm...NO.

You lost me at that whole "injection in the mans penis".

(That's really a non starter as best as I can tell).

I mean....really......

yeah...like a man has absolutely nothing to do with procreation. [8|]

Oh. It's my bullshit detector. There, I got it. Sorry about that, folks.

Do carry on.
