This seems like a dangerous business to me. Polymer plugs in the Vas deferens? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I'm guessing this will lead to problems like penile cancer at the very least. And plugging up sperm so they can't leave the body? Insanity. I hate to think of the long-term affects of this to men.

From my own experience, I've learned (painfully so) how devastating, later in life, taking birth control pills early in life can be. You can only muck around with Mother Nature by supressing natural functions so long before she kicks back with both barrels. Heaven help us all!

I agree 100%.

Yeah, sounds pretty suspect to me too. I can't fathom why they would think this is a good idea.

Just get the vasectomy and be done with it. At least if for some reason you do change your mind, you can get it reversed (same with tubal ligation for women).

Iamsemisweet -> RE: New birth control method for men! (4/5/2012 7:09:23 AM)

I can think of some men on the P and R board who I would love to see inject their dicks with silicone. Seriously, tho, if abortion no longer is an option, and certain forms of birth control for women are denied men are going to have to participate more actively in birth control. Looks like that day is coming.

yeah...like a man has absolutely nothing to do with procreation. [8|]

If you're suggesting that men have the same moral obligation to use contraception as women, I'd agree. But the woman is the one who risks getting pregnant, not the man. If I were female, I'm not sure I could trust a man to use his contraceptive unless he and I were long term partners.

And the problem with that is???????

I've no problem with anyone's kink but how many doctors are going to be willing to go that extra step for their patient?

And then, of course there's the question of insurance.

Should health insurance cover the cost of crotchless panties and rope?

What birth control options for women are being "denied?"

Hell yes, but the horror stories I hear from single female friends, about guys coming up with all sorts of excuses why they won't wear condoms, it's not just pregnancy, it's also STDs, I'm constantly baffled why women actually entertain the idea of contraception and the risk of a STD just because the guy doesn't want to put a condom on - for me it would be an instant "Good luck and don't bother calling" reaction. A guy willing to have unprotected sex with me, how many others was he willing to do that with? My health is worth more than that!

Well, I agree. But, gawd, I'll never forget my ex telling her doc that I had difficulty with condoms. She flew into a rage about my being exactly one of that sort of uncaring, selfish male bastards. "Tell him to find a different girlfriend!", she raged at my then GF.

The difficulty I had was bona fide and very evident: my skin couldn't take the spermicide on condoms. But the doc wasn't interested in that - or didn't know that this could be a problem. I ended up going through searing pain for bloody ages before finally discovering, for myself, that there was a brand of condom that wasn't coated with spermicide. Problem solved, but the hard way. Grrr!

A new birth control procedure shows promising signs of becoming another viable option for people who don't want children now, but may want them some day.

Techcitement points out that the procedure, which is in advanced clinical trials in India, has been found to be 100 percent effective.

One downside -- depending on how you feel about shots -- is that it requires the man's penis to be injected with a polymer gel called Vasalgel, after a local anesthetic has been given. The substance works by breaking apart sperm.

The whole procedure takes about 15 minutes and lasts ten years or more and is more easily reversible than a vasectomy.

As the Male Contraception Information Project notes, if a man decides he'd like to have his sperm up and running again, he can get another shot and, within two to three months, the baby-making can commence.

Studies over the last 25 years have reportedly found the procedure is safe to use on both humans and animals.

Researchers are hopeful that the procedure will be on the market in the U.S. by 2015, with clinical trials beginning in 2012. Currently, the process is only available to Indian men involved in the trials.

why should any one boathered with inserting something may be (cancerous) in his penis...?
(polymer) means its comming from (oil) which i can bet ya its 100% cancerous.

however, there was a study back at 2004 about men tucking their balls into the abdomen which can make the (sperm factory stop from workin).. after 2 weeks a man can have a perfect sex.. & he may cum in that cum there will be 0 sperm..

& when he or she decide that they want kids. they can put the balls back to their place.. (without even surgery)..
when the are at place the factory will make sperm again ... & again.. untill they tuck up their again or they are dead.
.. no pain... no need for anesthetic.. no cuts... & no babaies.... beside that.... no CANCER..

That isn't what I'd call denial. All people have to do is go where they will be prescribed/dispensed.

Good luck with that.

I felt an urge to bolt for the door as soon as I saw the words "the man's penis to be injected..."

I guessed that would be a typical reaction!!
