ORIGINAL: Marc2b And let's not forget Al Capone's vault. To his credit, however, wasn't Geraldo the one who blew the lid open on abuses of mentally handicapped people at institutions? I seem to remember that. I grew up, watching Geraldo on the Channel 7 ABC Eyewitness News in NYC. In 1972-73 (or so), he was instrumental in getting conditions improved and, finally, getting these horribly out-dated facilities shut down (Willowbrook and Credemore). His work, in this area is what launched him to national attention. There is no doubt that in the 70s, Geraldo was a "bleeding heart liberal" and the fact that his views haven't changed but how people now perceive him, speaks volumes about how we've changed, as a society. Peace and comfort, Michael
