Mine picked a college 5 hours drive time away. She was afraid anything closer and I would have showed up all the time. Instead, I almost never came to visit. It was a 5 hour drive, what did she expect?

But she's home this year taking a certificate program nearby to add to her BA.

Mine went away for the first time this year and it's been tough (on me), but text and email helps.

My youngest left 2 1/2 years ago. I grieved for a while after each one left, the last was hardest, I didn't know what to do with myself although I'd started back in school by then. It was really tough, I'm not going to lie. I broke down in the middle of Walmart the first time I went out to shop after he left, I had no idea what I wanted and what to buy just for myself. Up to that point I've never lived alone as an adult, never shopped just for one, never had only myself to think about and to plan for. I had no idea how to go about it all, sounds silly but i didn't know what to do or how to do it.

It worked itself out, life goes on. I'm not being flippant, it's tough, but you'll get through it. I'm happy with things as they are now, happy that the kids are all doing well for themselves, happy I'm doing well....everything turned out ok.

I just turned 32 and My mother asked Me last week if I wanted to move back home. I have to limit her calls to at least once every two days.

I still ask my daughter if she wants to come home all the time too. I keep hoping she'll say no, which she does lol. I'm also still learning things to do for myself and by myself. I keep remembering how I had to be up early to get her off to school, keep her appointments for her, make sure I was home at a reasonable hour to make sure she got to bed, had stuff ready for school, etc....Now that I no longer have to do all of that I wonder what to do with myself. I'm just starting to get used to that. I have to still remind myself "hey you don't have to be home by 10 or midnight dumbo!" or "hey you know you can go anywhere you want now, right?" and that I no longer have to lock bedroom or bathroom doors. heh.

It's definitely a wierd thing to get used to.

Oh good Lord...you get it lol.

Like you said, letting each one go was hard...but she's my last...and it totally sucks. Since the age of 18 I have always had SOMEONE here to look after...and now it's just going to be me.

*sigh*
I guess it really is time to get a life lol.

This may sound weird to most but, if you aren't working and are bored without your babies at home(and I say babies because My mother STILL calls Me that) how about getting a babysitting part time job, so you can have someone to look after. And...every one love sweet wittle babies!! (so long as you can give them back, lol) A friend's mother did that when she was in the nest alone and she loves it. Just a suggestion.

Oooooh or a new puppy, awww they definitely need looking after.

Mind you that I have no experience in what you guys are going through as I have no kids.
