Status: offline 		obviously if I were to call someone a nigger that would be bang out of order and I would expect to be thrown off the site, but last year a sports commentator over here called a famous black footballer a fat lazy nigger. It would then be ok to use "that word" in context with what he said?
Just trying to work out if the PC police have gone mad or not

renIg is a misspelling of that word according to the dictionaries I could find. If the stickers exist, the authors are either racist, illiterate or both.


I used to play a lot of Scrabble. Both spellings of the word were acceptable in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. It's not only a bridge term - it means to refuse to honor an obligation.

Status: offline 		Even adult hosting companies have rules against racial, hate and other harrassment issues.
They will take a site down with one complaint, if its valid.
They have to cover their arses in case of being sued for allowing it to be "online"

I look forward to seeing the court cases where these morons (the ones who put the bumper stickers on) sue the people who kick the shit out of them. I look forward to the jury looking at the defendant and the plaintiff, laughing and going "not guilty by reason of sanity." Perhaps when the plaintiff jumps up to bitch, the judge gets down and kicks his ass, too.

The bridge term is renege and it
refers to failing to follow suit.
As a bridge player I find we are underserved
in the bumpersticker market so I'm
doubtful the makers were trying to
tap into our demographic.
The bridge term and the other meaning
of the word both refer to not following
through on something.
The makers could very well be illiterate
but my guess is it was deliberate.
I don't really see renege as a word
hardcore rednecks use very much.
If racism could be cured by increasing
peoples vocabularies the world would
be a better place probably.
And the paying site will shut it down
if it's brought to their attention.
They can still make the nasty thing,
they'll just have to rely on word of
mouth and hand sell it.
Are there dumb assholes who would
put it on their bumpers?
There are always dumb assholes who
will do dumb asshole things but it's
a little subtle for the majority of dumb
assholery.

Status: offline 		I confess to being the cause of the moderator having to remove two of my posts which used the "N-word" in what was intended as an objective context. I am not here to challenge the rules, or add to moderators grief, but rather to add something to this discussion. I have been told to used the code "N-word" or else. Okay kids, get out your secret decoder rings; here goes the (hopefully) acceptable version.

Having lived in North Carolina for most of a decade, I occasionally heard a specific racist phrase, that I believe is the basis for the expression on the bumper sticker.

It is used between whites to shame someone who has not fulfilled a promise.

White #1: "You know what is worse than a 'N-word', don't you?

White #2: "No, what?"

White #1: "a re-'N-word'!"

For guests around my dinner table last night, the thought of seeing this bumper sticker on a car produced a very strong reaction: that immediate property damage was the most appropriate remedy, that a car key was not an adequate tool as the key might be damaged, and that direct application of a hand held diamond tip glass cutter circling the offending message might be justified and certainly more effective. This action was advocated in earthy language and salty metaphor. I of course reminded my guests that this would be illegal, morally wrong as well, and so I would not approve of it personally. The fact that such a tool is easily concealed and is available from any hardware store for less than $5 is totally irrelevant, and I would condem anyone contemplating destructive actions against the lawful exercise of constitutionally protected hate speach.

I hate the speach, but will defend the speakers right to it - as I hold my nose - and send in a few more $100 to the candidate of my choice.
