I have to say having all of the above and 9 bunnies I have an emergency plan. I have dog food, cat food, and tons of bunny food as well s crates and carriers for all of them. The only problem is dogs come when called, bunnies freeze in terror so they are easy to grab and put in their carries, but cats run and hide so I'd call the dogs they would come instantly, and tell them to get in the truck, I'd then scoop up all 9 bunnies into their carries and chase the cats and use the red laser light that they love to chase and grab them too, If your question meant who do I love more to save, no answer, I am sitting her now with a purring cat on the couch and holding 2 ten week old baby bunnies out of the 9 that i'd go through a burning house for no kidding,but to the OP, I have to say I think dogs are smarter. I have yet to have a cat that would fetch my paper, guard my house, or come when called instantly. But....I love them all the same <3

She thinks about it for a minute, yawns, stretches, and then moseys over, maybe making a stop or two along the way. But she does always arrive. And..this same cat used to play fetch with me. No joke. (She's old now...doesn't do much of that anymore.) She's a Siamese, and I have heard that if you can't have a dog, get a Siamese cat. I know, not the same, but...just wanted to comment. :)

Maine Coon can also be taught to fetch, sit, etc.My Ruby is very intelligent, no matter how silly she behaves at times. It's just a matter that cats choose not to submit to mere mortal humans [;)]

My kittehs all have varying speeds when called. Dinnertime is a definite "ZOOOOOM", step over each other to get there speed. Coming when I call them, not so fast. Over the years, I've developed ways to get them to come to me without calling them...if I want KB, all I have to do is lay down somplace. For Boo, it's go into the bathroom, for Mooch, it's sitting at the computer. My princess Squeaks will come running to me anytime I talk to her, and Bit is still in the kitten stage of "catch me if'n you caaaaaan!" I've actually had to do the "stuff the kitteh in the carrier thing" during a fire...fortunately, they didn't run off or fight me. I didn't have to evacuate them, it was the unit next to me on fire, and they had great fire walls, but the firemen traipsing in and out freked them to the point of not wanting to come OUT when the coast was clear.

Cats of course.. My first boyfriend and I had a cat, she was mostly his cat tho.. Him and her would play tag running up and down the hall of the house and around the center fireplace, it was so funny to watch them play like kids.. She had an extra toe on each foot and would hold your finger like her paw was a human hand... In our first house, she would sit up against the fence and taunt the dog next door,.. cleaning herself or walking on the fence and drive the dumb dog nuts... lol When we moved away we left her with his parents.. one day the dog next door decided to trespass.. it went yelping and running out of the yard with the cat's claws dug right in riding on top of the dogs back... lol She was a tough cat.. My cat Squeek was smart,.. he knew when i went to the bathroom that i was stuck there, trapped for a short time.. he would sit in front of me and give me "the look",.. if i ignored him he would bite my bare kneecaps, then give me "the look" again.. needless to say i had to pat him.. He was the first cat that really was mine.. I cried every day for a month when he died.. I still miss him and I can still see in my mind how he looked up at me, with his pretty little face.. Cats are great, they have such diverse personalities..

Which one is smarter? Science says dogs. I tend to agree, from both my unbiased and totally biased opinions. But then again, when it comes to loyalty, dogs rule. Cats do what they want and look out for #1. Stuck up felines bastards. >.>

My cats are just as loyal to me as any dog I've ever had. And it's not just at dinnertime, either. Even as I sit here typing, I have Moochie right next to me. KB sleeps with me without fail, and the others are always around, wanting and getting attention. Boo and Mooch will even "groom" my hands when they are next to me. Squeaks is my little lover, and will hug me when I pick her up. They each have their little quirks, and yes, they are still independent, but not distant....especially if I have ice cream or pudding....then I'll share.

Dogs can be taught to sit, fetch, come when called, roll over, play dead, assist the blind, search for drugs, track humans or animals, rescue drowning persons, detect cancer, assist hunters, track game, assist the physically handicapped with lights, phones, etc, scare off burglars, detect explosives, sniff out booby traps and enemy soldiers.......................on and on and on. Cats can be taught to shit in a box.

Sushi and Little Bit are too short to reach the toilet...LOL! We got them trained to run outside when the door is open anyway. Binx does what she damn well pleases. We keep her scratching posts on the stoop in case we 'accidentally' lock her out.
