By comparison to the Western European average, it's a very, very right wing country. In some ways, almost shockingly so. I'm a leftie, but I know I join with a lot of quite conservative critics here in saying: for such a wealthy country, it's a bit of a disgrace that it doesn't look after the people at the bottom so much better.
